Loving Western history and having a mom from Miami, AZ, as well as the True West stamp of approval led me to this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing by Marshall Trimble. He is a concise, flowing storyteller, almost seemingly in my living room talking. Not intended for a Pulitzer, this is just a good, informative, interesting account of Old Arizona figures. If one likes the colorful men and women of old Arizona, then that reader will like this book.

It was very interesting & Inforative. I did not know the history Of the gunfigfighter of Arizona before I read this book.

This tight, action packed volume from Arizona's best known historian is a wonderful book, and would make an excellent gift to a reader new to the subject of western law enforcement and Arizona's wild and bloody past, as well as those already familiar with the content. It is particularly pleasing that Mr. Trimble has chosen to focus on some of Arizona's lesser known characters from the 1880s - early 1900s, rather than retread the whole Earp thing again.

Excellent quick stories of western heroes and villains . Watch out for cactus, you’ll think you’re there.

Marshall is Arizona's premier historian, and is a fun book with tales of the Old West.

Interesting history of law breakers and law-keepers through out Arizona in in late 19th Centuryand early 20th. It is written concisey reviewing pertinent facts and general knowledge of circumstances of the time. The author reveals a sense of wit so it isn't dull. It is clear that law and order was not organized and many lawman had criminal backgrounds and often worked both sides of the law. Establishing order was necessary for Statehood which didn't happen until1925. Many of the names were familiar because descendants are still here. Arizona is still a place where the mentality of many has not changed from the frontier.

Arizona history has quite fascinating. Enjoy reading about the state. Trimble does a good job I've enjoyed most of his books.
