Enjoyable eleventh book in The Cat Who Series
Another wonderful book in The Cat Who Series. In this book, the eleventh in the series Qwilleran and his Siamese cats take a vacation to the city where he lived before moving up to Pickax. He rents an apartment in a historic old building called The Casablanca, that the city and several banks and businessmen want to tear down and tenants and preservationists want to preserve and are trying to convince Qwilleran to buy and restore. The apartment that he's renting is vacant because supposedly an artist murdered his lover, the former tenant. But while they stay there Koko solves the crime and apprehends the real murderer. The next night someone plants a bomb and Qwilleran, the cats and Arch Riker have to run for their lives.

Casablanca
The cats don't like to travel and after this trips would blame them. The Casablanca certainly has a strange group of tenants. The Contessa liked to play games especially bridge. All Qwill played was Scrabble. It took a few days for Koko to spell out the clues to make clear and who was murdered & why. Quill did manage to do it before everything blew up.

An early "history" of Qwill & the cats
I've been reading The Cat Who series for a good many years & recently discovered I didn't exactly start at the beginning. It's interesting to check out the early days of Qwill, Koko, and Yum Yum. One of the things I like about these books is that they're relatively short & a good read. Like any book, there are spots where the story plods a little, but not enough to not enjoy the story. I also like that these books aren't overly intense & tend to show everyday life. It's a nice break from reading intense and/or dark mysteries. Anyone who has cats can appreciate the antics of the "kids". If you're trying to get a preteen to read more, this is an excellent series to start them on. There are no adult situations or bad language. You'll notice that I didn't review the storyline in this particular book because I don't want to give anything away! You'll have to trust me that I do recommend the book.

Confusing start
The book started off confusing; I didn't know whether the main character got killed or not, until I found out that his car actually got stolen.

These books make me want a cat.
Qwill and the kitties are back in the city. The Foundation has been tapped to save an historic building and Qwilleran is here to investigate. Is it a coincidence that the very apartment he's given to reside in as he does this was last occupied by a murder victim? One who was also trying to save the Casablanca? Jim doesn't know, but his mustache vibrates as Koko unearths the mystery.Perfect little murder mystery for a Friday the 13th.

A fun series.
Given to my 92 year old mother-in-law who I care for. She never read anything but newspapers. She is now on the 16th book and just loves reading now. It was the perfect choice to engage her.

Great series
I enjoy reading the "cat who" series. Always has the continuing saga of Yum-Yum and KoKo in addition to the lives of the permanent characters.

Oh My Brilliant !!
I have read 10 of these books of Lillian Jackson Braurn's stories in her series ofbooks, this no 11 of and it is SOooo good! And this book is a page turner.I got so caught up in it I found it hard to put down.Jim Qwilleran who is a reporter who has acquired these two beautiful Siamese cats 'Ko Ko' & Yum Yum' who have cheeky, clever and persistent ways of pointing Jim to each of the needed clues at times needed. Which sometimes results in saving Qwillerans life. Known as 'Qwill' to friends, is always snooping into things that point to or are crimes of some sort; Always digging out the truth in all kinds of situations that he seems to land himself in. I find these two very clever cats so amusing and the ongoing unlikely relationship between them and this Frugal reporter, writer is for me a wonderful type of escapism in a search of some relaxing 'Me time'.I am not going into the story or plot at all, I personally prefer to pick that up myself. But I have to say such a good book, they are all SUCH GOOD READS!!I have purchased some for friends, enjoyable relaxing read. LOVE THEM!!
