Paradise Diced Citron, 8 Ounce

I thought I didn't like preserved fruit. Who hasn't heard all those fruitcake jokes? But the British recipes I was hoping to make called for this. What a difference! The fruit bits are firm and tasty. No sticky, gluey fruit that looks like it belongs in a cocktail lounge drink. This fruit added a bright citrus note and just enough firmness to the teeth. It was a lovely surprise. The loaves of fruit bread were such a success with my fruitcake-hating family that I have used several tubs of this and now I buy the bigger tub! The English blend is really good, too. Don't fear the fruit!

My Mom uses this in her Christmas Stollen every year and sometimes it’s hard to find in the store! Thanks Amazon!

I use only Paradise fruit mixes at the holidays when making fruitcakes. I decided to try the diced citron this time in a lemon pound cake for some additional kick. It was priced right so now was the time! When it arrived, I expected the quality of fruit I got with the mixed & was not disappointed, the fruit has a nice fresh, clean look that will look great in the cake, Tried a few pieces, no signs of it not being fresh & it tasted great. Perfectly sized for baking & like other Paradise products, I am sure it will retain the color when cooked.

Taste OK, but I was planning to replace one of the citrus ones I had with it, and the flavors are just not the same. I had one that was a little more orangey (bought several years ago) and thought because this said Citron just like that one, that the flavors would again be great mixed into cream cheese for my bagels smear. Nope. The texture is fine, and similar to what I had before. The color is also pale and greenish, which is not very appealing. The previous purchased (from the food store, not online) were orange. They are fresh and not dry by any means, and there is a plastic seal around the lid to keep them from drying out. It just wasn't what I wanted despite the name and the manufacturer being the same. High quality. Good value. But doesn't have the orangey flavor I so love. Maybe it would work for fruit cake. Good quantity and keeps a long time. Be careful when you order to make sure this is the flavor profile you are seeking. They are many varieties of this product.

Easier to find on Amazon than in markets! Tastier homemade fruit cake!

attractive light green color but little to no taste, blind taste test can not identify any hint of citron, but there is a preservative like taste that is hard to place.
