how do you get the metal part with the knob out of the switch

To remove it all you have to do is go under the dash (remove kick panel if necessary, remove the electrical connector to the old switch first! Then push the button on the old headlight switch. The button will be on the bottom of the old switch, which you can see under the dash. While holding this button, pull the headlamp knob, it will come right out. There will be a slot for a screwdriver, remove it to put into new switch. That should be all the steps to remove it. I haven't done this in awhile, installation is reverse
