First Act Discovery Ukulele Starter Pack

Great value! Bought this for my sister who has special needs. This is sturdy enough for her to play with and is made very well.

This is a nice little soprano ukulele kit for beginners that includes everything you need to get started. It's not super high quality, but the instrument itself is definitely decent and not a toy. It's made of real wood and includes 2 sets of strings. The case it comes with is extremely thin and is more of a dust cover than a protective case, but it does have a little handle and a strap to wear it for carrying around. The kit also comes with some chord charts you can attach to help learn but you will need to find your own instruction video or books to really learn how to play. One of the nicer features of this kit is the tuner that also works for Guitars, Violins, and other stringed instruments. Just clip it on the headstock and it displays the note when you play a string. Tuners are decent quality, metal and overall the tone of this ukulele is not bad. I was definitely thinking it would be more of a toy than an instrument, but it stays in tune pretty well and sounds ok and I've really been enjoying playing it. Even if you just want to learn a few chords and strum it to relax, this kit is perfect for that and the little cards will get you started. In my kit, there was no battery provided for the tuner. I'm not sure if this is normal but I wanted to mention that you will need a CR2030 battery, which I happened to have so it wasn't a big deal for me. Overall, I'm happy with this ukulele kit, durability seems ok for an entry level ukulele; and although I usually recommend something like a Kala soprano ukulele for beginners, this is also a nice option, especially if you need a tuner (although any smart phone will also work with a free tuner app).

I didn't really like the plastic strings

As my headline shows, I owned this for two weeks before the bridge snapped while tuning it and nearly struck me in the face. I tried to order a replacement via the manufacturer and was told "All Amazon refunds or exchanges are to be processed through the Amazon website as they fulfilled the order and they have their own process in place. You may reach out to Amazon for additional assistance if needed. Thank you." Went to Amazon to get a replacement and was advised they cannot ship a replacement. So now I'm left with a hunk of wood for recycling. But for the two weeks I've owned it, it was nice and relaxing to play. The strings are kind of bulky and it didn't stay in tune.

The ukulele is adequate considering the low cost. All the parts said to be included are in the package. The irritating part is the CR2032 battery for the tuner shipped DOA, I had to go buy a battery to use the included tuner.
