Have been using this for a couple weeks now.This is going to be semi-long. Ive had a summer vid monitor for nearly 7 years that worked ok but is slowly on its way out (from the cord no longer charging, to the battery no longer holding a charge, and I have a difficult space with lots of walls and a roof that has a radiant foam core on the main level in front, so Id start losing connection or it would freeze without knowing! - so anyway long story short then long again, I have 3 kids and the 2 youngers were moving into their own room which is even farther away from our bedroom. They are down stairs and we are up stairs in back, so we have lots of walls and the roof of the 1st floor with that special radiant barrier core to get through for signals. I wanted a way I could talk back so I was going back and forth between vid or just audio because I had a feeling we'd lose connection so I thought Id try this out based on the reviews. I have to say its working out well for my needs as I no longer have babes, but would not be able to hear them if there was a problem unless they are screaming their heads off (which is why I still need something).This signal holds much better than the summer, although this has a more annoying signal loss noise thats louder, and its only happened twice but I realized its because its competing if I have the summer turned on for the other child in the other room, so waiting to be able to just buy a 2nd camera (I hope it comes out soon). I notice the issue stops if I turn off the other one, which I tried putting on the other side of the room and really close to the camera just below the floor, but it still crackles and pops at times (the summer), and the UU then has trouble holding the signal.The camera view is stationary and you can not move it like you can the summer (but thats fine, I have it pointed at the bunk bed, though thats all that fits in the view even at 5 feet away). I have more room to move it back further if I wanted to.. Again though - I just like to take a peak if I hear something before I decide to talk to them (which may freak them out if they arent actually awake) -Talk back sounds a little robotic but that could be because of the distance and walls and barriers.. but I had them listen to me during the day, so they know (these are 4 and 6 year old boys) - I have used it once and it was great to let them know they can just go get their ipads or whatever on a weekend morning without having to get out of bed myself and come down stairs.I imagine this would have been great from the get go (if I had babies) because you never need or would want to move the camera remotely, the night light and lullaby feature might come in handy, and knowing the temp in the room.The parent unit is small and light - it sits on our nightstand plugged in which makes it fall over if I try to press any buttons because the kick stand is short in the back and the plug is right in the middle on the side (though it does the same even when not plugged in. To anyone just feeling/touching/looking at this whole thing, you'd probably think its cheap (I hope Im not jinxing myself!).We plan on getting a 2nd camera once they are available to get so I can toss the summer. While my other child is older who is on the other room, he has Down Syndrome. It would be nice to be able to check in on him, or talk to him if needed (specially if they are feeling ill or the like, because as I mentioned above, I can't hear them down stairs unless someones blaring super loud). Eventually my plan is to just put a camera in the hallway between their rooms so there still something that can alert me if they need us for any reason while sleeping.Id give it 5 stars if those few small things that sort of don't matter to me didn't exist.

I bought this for our baby (#7 so you know i've had lots of experience with monitors). Our old monitor was barely functional. We only needed one camera at the time and I couldn't be happier with it's performance over the last 4 months. We just bought a second camera now that we plan on napping her in a different room and overnight in our room (still nursing).I thought the 2nd camera was defective. but it turns out it's the base unit. Here's what happens. When i pair a camera to either channel 1 or 3, the camera works with no issues. If I pair either camera to channel 2, the built-in night light comes on (disturbing the sleepers who aren't expecting to see it). It only comes on after turning off the base unit. Upon powering up and viewing channel 2, the light comes on without fail. If you turn it off, and leave the base unit on, the night light never comes back on. But after power-cycling the base unit, the light will come on upon first viewing of channel 2. I paired the two cameras to all the different channels. Then I found that channel 3 is fine. And channel 4 has another quirk. Same criteria, but different symptom. Every first viewing after powering up the base unit will result in channel 4 invoking the 2x zoom.Maybe i got a lemon. I was 33 days past my return window. And I only caught this problem because we added the 2nd camera. But we can live with just channels 1 and 3. It just an extra button press to get the 3rd channel.
