The KAHNS of Fifth Avenue: the Crazy Rhythm of Otto Hermann Kahn and the Kahn Family
G**M
Fascinating read
Williams allows the individual members of the Kahn family to tell their own stories through their perspectives without interjecting too much unnecessary blather. Their actions determine the path the story takes–in certain instances, we hear two or three sides of the same event, highlighting the guile such wealthy families went to in protecting their reputation. Thoroughly researched, the book uncovers a wealth of new information–I had no idea Winston Churchill was visiting the New York Stock Exchange in 1929 on Black Thursday, the start of the Wall Street Crash! Coincidence, or as Williams indicates, was the Bank of England pulling strings? Fascinating stuff! An interesting story and a delight to read.
