Federal Street Press Webster's Dictionary for Students, Sixth Edition
Q**.
Compact Dictionary OK for Up to 4th Grade
This dictionary does a good job of writing clear definitions that are comprehensible to older elementary students. My 5th graders occasionally do challenging vocabulary work though, and these dictionaries don't always have definitions for those challenging terms. What's also missing is pronunciations.I recommend getting the Webster's American English Dictionary instead. It's about the same size, but contains pronunciations and higher level words.

Works well for elementary, but middle grades not so much.
I bought this thinking it would be more comprehensive than the elementary dictionary, and it does have some more words, but I was needing a dictionary for my 7th grader, and this one doesn't have the etymology and many of the "basic" things a dictionary for that level should come with. Good for our younger children, but already had a dictionary for their grades. This gives parts of speech and a basic definition, but not what we needed. -andrea

It’s a dictionary! With fine print.
Students Book because the print is small very small and fine . Older folks will need magnifying glasses.

Good reference but missing pages.
I homeschool and had ordered this to help. And when my child went to search for the word (paid) she claimed it was not in there. I didn't believe her till I came across the missing pages/page number jump and the section in the (P) did not go below (Pe).

Really really small font and not returnable so don't bother.
