Ready to Pickle
I have done many batches of nuka in the past. It can take weeks for the brine paste to get ripe enough to pickle (and taste good). This bag comes ready to go. It is very salty at first so only leave vegies in for a few hours. After a few rounds of pickling the saltiness is just right and they taste exactly how they should. Be sure to buy dry rice bran to replenish the bag when it gets too wet.

Convenient and good product
I have made nukadoko 4-5 times in the past, but it takes mixing daily to keep it tasting good even in the fridge and have not made it in last 16 years. This is a convenient way to have your own nukazuke. The pickled vegetables may taste salty at first until different vegetables release liquid and nukadoko matures. If too salty, soak in water to your taste preference. Some pickles sitting in nukadoko becomes too salty and are called furuzuke, with these, just soak pickles in water to release the saltiness and use in udon soups, etc. I am very happy I can have my own home nukazuke.

Convenient and tasty.
I've made my own nuka beds in the past with what was available locally. I'm in the US, so rice bran wasn't really available. I used oat bran. I really wanted to experience how 'real' nuka was supposed to taste. I've kept this mostly in my fridge while it ferments because I don't have a huge amount of fresh produce around this spring. I'll most likely be pickling more as the garden starts to produce. The flavor is great. It's a tad salty, but I imagine that's a safety thing as it's got to ship and whatnot. Will definitely keep this nuka bed going in the future. Worth the initial price and ridiculous shipping charge.

Very good quality
This is perfect for making Japanese pickles. I was skeptical at first as this was imported from Japan. I didn't think the quality will be good, but it turned out it was great.Normally, "Nuka" is not ready to make pickles, and it'd take a long time until the taste becomes perfect. This product is already ready to make the best pickles. All you need is to open the bag and soak the veggies you want.Highly recommended!

No directions in english
Excellent product but directions unclear because all in Japanese. Main important point is that once you start pickling you have to keep it refrigerated.

Wonderful
I made a nuka bran bed years ago. It was fine. This packaged version, however, is super easy...put your veggies in. Every day move it about. And the bag is sturdy, so it's not messy. I love it. I recommend it. The pickles I've made are delicious.
