(UPDATED 9-Aug-2018) High Setting Turns Air Flow Up To 11!! Even Low Setting Loud For A Bedroom, Seems Well Made
When it comes to moving air I'm very pleased with my new Hurricane box fan. It moves an impressive amount of air and I believe it meets the impressive 2,400 cubic feet per minute rate on high. Even on its lowest setting this fan moves a lot more air than my old fan set on high! And, I thought that one was pretty good. When it comes to Noise I'm not so much. That's the apparent tradeoff for moving a lot of air. The Hurricane on its lowest setting makes quite a bit more noise than my older fan on high. It's too noisy for me in a bedroom fan but that depends on how much noise you can tolerate.I think it's important to point out that the noise seems to come entirely from the fan blades through air. My old fan was almost silent for this kind of noise, but vibrated quite a bit. That noise carried through the walls and I could hear it running in other rooms. Not so with the well balanced Hurricane. It seems noisy but just in the room where it's running. The Hurricane was surprisingly smaller than the old metal frame one it replaces. Both are described as 20in fans but with the Hurricane it appears to refer to the outer box dimensions. On my older fan it refers to the blade diameter. The Hurricane is also very thin: about half the thickness of my old fan. That's a real plus when you are placing a fan on your window sill! The Hurricane's box is almost all plastic with some metal reinforcing. So are the sleekly curve blades. It sounds cheaply made to describe, but I was impressed with the quality of construction. It also does not seem to vibrate noticeably when it's running. I think it will last very well. Good engineering I think. In my application I am using it in a upstairs windows to pull air through the one room upstairs in my old New England cape style home. Essentially as an exhaust fan. I used some eye hooks and a bungee cord to hold it tightly in window. With the fan on low I can be in the middle of the room and feel the air flow distinctly. When it comes to moving air I'm very impressed. Noise level, not as much.In conclusion, this box fan moves more air than any other I looked at locally. On low it moves much more than my old fan on high! But it's noisy for a bedroom or living space. Even when on low. Construction is very good and I think it will last years if not decades. It's much more compact than other box fans I looked at. II'm torn between 4 and 5 stars. No half stars on Amazon so I'm giving it 4 stars. It's an impressive box fan but even on its lowest setting it's is pretty noisy.UPDATE 9-Aug-2018:This fan has continued to exceed my expectations. It really moves a lot of air. I rarely want to use it above the low settings, but when I do it delivers moving air thought my attic bedroom and cooling it down from the day's heat (this is an attic room!). Yes, it is noisier than my previous fan. It took a little while but I'm used to it now and no longer concerns me, at least on low.Considering how much air this fan moves I have reconsidered the noise level and I'm not upgrading my Hurricane box fan to 5 stars. I'm even more pleased than when I wrote the original review and raising my ranking to 5 stars. It's an impressive fan.

A Whirlwind!
In short, its a high quality and, more importantly, high output (for a box fan) fan. I was hesitant to buy a new box fan as I always seem to get burned on the output produced by other box fan brands. The breeze is usually just far too dispersed and weak, but they are good for general circulation. But, oh boy this box fan! This bad boy will have you running to secure any loose paper around the room! It is noisy especially at its higher settings, but I like white noise so this is fine for my needs. The feet keep the fan stable and prevent the shaking and knocking that occurs with other box fans. Its convenient that the control is on the front of the fan since this is generally on my window sill. If you need a quality box fan, you won't go wrong with this one.

Moves air well
This is a basic, inexpensive box fan that has one job to do and does it well - it moves a lot of air in a hurry. It has three settings: fast, very fast, and extremely fast. I use the fan to move cool air into my non-air-conditioned house in the early morning hours during the summer and then shut it off when the outside temperature rises. It does a great job of cooling off the house quickly. That said, it is a stationary and very stable box fan. It doesn't swivel up or down nor side-to-side. It's somewhat loud in operation, though not excessively so given the high fan speed at which it operates. So far it has been very reliable in its operation.I'd recommend it and would buy it again. It represents a good value for the money.

Not for people who want a low fan setting
If you want a strong fan and don't mind the noise, this is a really great fan. If you want quiet and gentle, this is not the fan for you.I bought this same fan a couple of years ago and decided to buy a second one because I liked how quiet it was. I obviously should have read the reviews before ordering the new one because it's SO much louder and stronger than the one I originally bought. The low setting on the new fan is like the high setting on the old fan. I bought it for my office and I'm on the phone all day, so I'm not sure this fan is going to work. I definitely think people on the phone can hear it during calls. I tried to swap it with the quieter fan in the living room, but this fan makes it really hard for me to hear the tv because there's so much white noise. Also, and this is probably just me, I don't enjoy sitting in front of this fan if it's less than three or four feet away because it's too strong for me. I'm sitting about 8' away right now and it's blowing the papers around on my desk. You couldn't sit close to it and read, or have a normal volume conversation.I'm someone who almost never turns my fans above the low setting, so I don't love that this one feels like it's on high all the time. I will probably return it and try to find a quieter model. I gave it four stars because it's built well and does a good job moving air.

No need to assemble.
No need to assemble. Runs good and the three speeds are very handy. Not as quiet as I thought but still a great fan.

Too loud, no handle to move fan..
The fan blows a lot of air. No problem there. The problem is I have it on low and the noise is very very loud. Also as you can see in my photo there’s no handle to pick it up. So if you want to move the fan or even angle it differently, you have to pick up the fan by the sides.
