sweet but hard read at times
Alright. I feel the need to review this one. So first things first. Jin and Kepler are a very cute couple. Jin spends far too much time in his own head, but once he gets unstuck then it’s wonderful. I have read several books with similar set ups in a row and this was the first one I felt needed both a review and five stars. What I liked: while there is far too much stream of consciousness (to the point I almost DNF at the beginning) the characters do talk. All of them. And communication is helpful to the story and not just basic back and forth. I also liked the secondary (probably second couple for book 2?) London and V(the hockey player) The depictions of a codependent relationship and how damaging alcoholism can be to a family was spot on. Even the support group therapy was pretty accurate. And there is where I had trouble. At times this didn’t feel like a romance but a book about codependency and how soul sucking it is. Yes everyone gets treatment. But it was hard to flip between the fluffy and jagged and it made it very difficult to read because I couldn’t decide what type of book it wanted to be. However it works and I ended the book smiling so huzzah. What I didn’t like: I love an adorable angsty university romance. I despise cheating and that was mostly ignored or just brushed off as “oh well I’m good at it and I need the money”. They got in trouble for having a relationship and not disclosing it, but the Massive university cheating problem was never dealt with. The relationship between Kepler and his family is sweet but there is some handwaving and a little vague baiting for story reasons but he has all this money and just poof and something changes but it’s all good because he’s rattling around all on his own for reasons. I got confused with some set pieces and geometry (the Ta office and study room and his home.) it wasn’t described enough for me to place them in space but since it wasn’t critical I ignored it.

Always!
I really enjoyed this book. Great writing. I just wish something happened to Smith! He cheated by buying an essay and got away with it after hurting the mc’s. Not fair! Lol

10/10
Kepler and Jae Jin are relationship goals. This is such a good book, there are parts where you laugh so hard, a d parts that hurt. But all worth it

New favorite!
I really struggled to put this book down. It was SO GOOD! Very close to a 5 Star rating (which I’m insanely stingy with, so that says a lot. If the ending wasn’t as abrupt as it was, I may have given in. It just felt like it was missing a little something more.)I’m really hoping the next book comes out soon. The side characters were very well written & hinted at just enough of their personalities & backstories that it left the reader intrigued & hungry for more.It didn’t hurt that this is one of my favorite tropes—or close to it—childhood friends who fall in love with each other. I also loved how there was so much diversity with the characters.—Not only is the MC character & his brother half Korean, but there’s mention of two trans women in the book as well. Plus there’s realistic drama from things like grief, depression, anxiety, addiction… Lots of focus on the very complex nature of addiction & what it’s like to love someone who’s struggling with self-medication & spiraling out of control.I loved how the two MCs fit so perfectly together. Very similar interests & such a rich history together. I just loved it!

I loved it, every page till the end. Great story, right now one of my top three best reads, utterly enigmatic and romantic. Looking forward to read the next one, Dex or Shin, I'd love to know what happened with their own stories.

Beautifully written....
one thing for sure this character and this book will always remain in my heart....❤❤Can't believe it's authors debut novel... The writing, the plot, all the characters are just on point... There's not a single movement which I don't like...I'm a sucker for angsty romance... But this is something different from the angsty stories that i have ever read..... I can't describe this... I mean the story is simple but at the same time it's complicated... The words and the paragraphs are easy to read....but they are filled with deep meaning and the angst these words are held OMG... It's like u are exploring something new..Jin and kelper....the love they have, the chemistry they share and the intimacy between them.... U can't find these bond nowadays so easily... Kelper... The way he loves jin... Wow...he is the best example of unconditional love...the love he has for jin since childhood... And Jin is special in his own way...and he deserves someone like kelper...There is so much more I want to shares, that i want to talk... But then my thoughts will never stop... And might my novel turn into mini novella....Can't wait to read authors future books...
