Excellent book about the Dog Heroes of 9/11. This book will hold a permanent place on my coffee table.

I ordered this book from Amazon (at a GREAT price) just days after the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and after tracking it down in a local book store computer (to order) at a price $13.00 higher than Amazon.Although the book was also out of stock and on backorder with Amazon too, after receiving it nearly 2 months later--it was well worth the wait!This book is beautiful and features tons of great color photographs, personal accounts from the handlers and a wonderful tribute section for the heros lost & now passed-on to the Rainbow Bridge.This book is proudly displayed on my living room coffee table (when it's not in my hands being read) and will remain there for all of my friends & family to view & enjoy. This book was well worth the wait and I am THRILLED to finally own it!!!

A superb explanation of what disaster search and rescue dogs do, and wonderfully updated on the dogs and their handlers who participated at all of the sites after the attack on September 11. It adds even more poignancy to the event as so many of the dogs were trained to find live bodies only, but still told people where the dead ones were. In addition to providing the means of searching the mountains of rubble, these dogs gave care and comfort to the humans. Even for people who are not dog lovers, it is a good book to read to know what these animals can do and how they go about it. The pictures alone are worth the price! I bought one for myself and one as a Christmas gift.

Was in NYC at the 9-11 memorial and my daughter expressed a desire for this book so I opted not to buy it for her at this time as I didn't want to lug it around..........I gave it to her as a thank you for lugging me (84 years old) around and she was thrilled to death. When it arrived I had a chance to look at it and it was wonderful. A great tribute to our furry friends.

Bought this “new”, so I’m pretty disappointed that it came to me with a torn cover.Otherwise, it’s a beautiful book. I’m sure it’ll make a great Father’s Day present!

I was so excited to see this book because my children love stories about dogs. I also think it is a great way for them to understand more about all of the heroes of 9/11. It has beautiful pictures and stories about all of the dogs. Everything about it is great except I ordered it NEW and it came without a dust cover, with water damage on every page and a crack in the front cover. The seller did refund half the price of the book because I wanted to keep it, but I won't be buying from them again. Book=5 stars, Seller=0.

This book was one of the most moving books I have ever read. The love between the dogs and their handlers is wonderful. The love is enviable and the stories of these brave dogs is totally engrossing. I had no idea as to the involvement of all these animals. The chapter that really made me sad was the one concerning the dogs that have passed on, especially Boomer. I cried when I read his owners story. What a DOG! As a dog lover and owner I recommend this book to anyone that has a dog as a friend!

After watching the documentary of the Dog Heroes on Discovery, I wanted to find out more about the dogs. Although this book will not be for everyone it is a very interesting read, not only describing the dogs and their handlers and what they did but also what happened to them afterwards and how the search and rescue programme is now being developed in USA.Lovely photos.

A real heartwarming gem of a book recording the actions of unsung heroes at 9/11 and other rescue events. Sadly since 9/11 a number have since died but their actions and achievements will never be forgotten thanks to this publication.

Most aspects were excellent but dust cover was slightly torn in a couple of places which took the shine off a little but everything else ok!
