You'll Love the Grace Valley trilogy and Robyn Carr!
This is the second book in the Grace Valley series. I have had the pleasure of reading all three of the books. This book may be read as a stand alone or, if the reader wishes, it may be helpful to each book in order beginning with Deep in the Valley. She is a 37-year-old single medical doctor who has succeeded her father. Her dad, Dr. Elmer Hudson, does help her out as needed.June is a wonderful country doctor who is committed to serving her patient night or day. Late one night an armed man appears who accompanies a guy who has a gunshot wound. She treats the injured patient. While doing so, the man with the weapon keels over at the sight of blood. In doing so, he winks at June. June is convinced of two things: He is faking it and he is not what he appears to be – a backwoods guy is has a marijuana farm. She has not seen the last of him. He later appears and introduces himself. He informs her that he is a DEA agent and he wants to see more of her. He will get his wish. June’s life gets more complicated because her high school heart throb, Chris Forrest, returns to Grace Valley along with his twin sons. Chris meets with people in town and in the process Birdie, his mother is given charge of the two teen-age twins. Chris has earned his terrible reputation as a liar, womanizer, reluctant breadwinner, and in addition, terrible father. June has attempted to avoid this smooth talker who had promised to marry her but instead ran off to marry a classmate, Nancy Cruise. June is told by Chris that he is now divorced and “sees the light”. He is interested in her. (Later, June learns from Nancy that he is separated, not divorced and the reason for the separation is Chris. He has lied to her.)Dr. John Stone joins June at the clinic. He has exceptional credentials and has a strong obstetrics (OB) background. After going with June on a couple calls, he realizes has special being a country doctor can be. He wants in. They become great partners working together at the clinic. Life is not that simple for John though. Charlotte, a long-time nurse at the clinic, suffers a heart attack so can no longer work. Susan Stone, John’s wife is a skilled and talented nurse. She would like to succeed Charlotte but her doctor husband opposes this move. His chauvinistic side is showing. Good luck overcoming that problem! There is much more going on in this interesting book. I will not give away the remaining aspect of the plot. Something must give between June and the mystery DEA agent and June must deal as well with the smooth-talking Chris Forrest and his wife Nancy who has returned home. Justine Roberts, daughter of Standard Roberts, has done a great job with the flower shop. She has a real talent for what she does. Sam Cussler, gas station owner and fisherman, has built a great relationship with Justine and she is smitten with him. However, she is fixated on having a baby. That fixation leads to very poor decision making on Justine’s part. You will want to learn about the elderly and cantankerous Bartow twins, Amelia and Endeara; two special characters! Chris and Nancy’s two boys, Brad and Brent, present some unique challenges that absolutely must be addressed. Finally, the antics of Myrna Hudson Claypool and Morton Claypool are a hoot. This trilogy was fun to read. Robyn Carr does a great job of creating amazing people and situations!

Delightfully entertaining!
The adventures continue as June keeps a big secret, Aunt Myrna’s skeletons come out of the closet and Tom Toopeek is kept busy keeping the town safe from the shenanigans of the sons of June’s old boyfriend who has returned to Grace Valley. I really enjoyed the new town doctor John and the questions concerning his past, the on again off again presence of June’s mysterious nighttime visitor as well as the gossip, medical emergencies and intermingling relationships in this delightful little town. The characters are intriguing, quirky and delightfully entertaining.

book 2 surpassed book 1
Just Over the Mountain is book 2 in the Grace Valley series by Robin Carr. As with book 1, Robin has created a book that is impossible to put down. Her characters who carry over from book 1 are even more realistic in this book.June Hudson is kept busy at the clinic and with checking on all her patients. However, she finds time to be with her lover, Jim Post. Jim is an undercover agent and is still working at an undisclosed site. He promises he will be retiring soon and says he will return to Grace Valley and her. She manages to keep this a secret in the town known for its gossiping. Her ex-high school boyfriend, Chris Foster has come back to town with his two delinquent sons in tow. He tells her he is divorced from Nancy and he wants a second chance with her. June wants none of him. Chris’s sons become involved with stealing eggs, egging houses, vandalism, and petty theft. Chris seems to view this as simply boyish pranks. His mother and father see it as disrespect and theft. The boys don’t respect their grandparents or their house. What else will the boys do? Why doesn’t their mother have custody of them?June is called out to the Culley Stables to tend to Daniel Culley who has been shot in the buttocks by his wife Blythe. What in the world would make her do this? What is the secret that the two are hiding? As if there isn’t enough excitement going on, June’s Aunt Myrna has had human bones located in her garden. The “birdwatcher” who found them is really a newspaper man who has followed the story of Aunt Myrna’s husband’s disappearance. What happened to him? Was he killed and then used as the main character in Myrna’s books? Will more bones be found? Are they Morton Claypool’s bones? nIf not, where is he?

LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT
I am reviewer 125, so there is not much I can say that hasn't already been said. However, I will say I LOVED IT. Grace Valley is a neat place to live and I feel like these characters are neighbors. This is the #2 book in the series of setting up Grace Valley. What a fun, wicked, kind, compassionate community. There are dozens of stories going on all the time. I don't know how an author can keep up with so many characters and give them different personalities and then keep them in character to tell a story that just sucks you in. I love Robyn Carr's books. These characters get in my system and I think about them for days just like they are all living in this community and life goes on for them.Dr. June's story continues as she discovers some secrets about herself and she also discovers the love of her life. OMG I love this hunky hero. I will say there is at least one time I wanted to smack some sense into the good doctor but thank goodness she figures things out on her own. I will also admit that I believe the twins got just what they deserve. I love it when the bad seed gets their just desserts. Harsh, but I think with these two that is what is was going to take.I love this series, highly recommend it and as I said before, I bought the trilogy so I am getting ready to read #3. Since all the good stuff has happened with most of the characters I wonder what this next book will have to offer. I am anxious to find out. Love, love this series, don't miss it. I did not find it in the least disappointing. I loved every word.
