I will be honest…I wasn’t sure if I would like fire glass in my new gas fire pit. I had seen videos of fire glass in the colors white and blue, but just wasn’t excited about the look. When I found out that lava rock can explode if moisture gets in and the rock is heated…I felt like I had no choice but to try fire glass. The black mirrored fire glass was beautiful. It reflected the fire and held in the heat better than lava rock. I would highly recommend the black fire glass over lava rock any day!

The obsidian color of the glass is mesmerizing and on a cold winter night with the fire roaring, it’s heaven.

I ordered the black glass to replace lava rock on my indoor fireplace. It used to be wood burning and was made into a gas fireplace. One 20lb bag was enough to do the whole bottom of the fireplace. It is very shiney and I had good size pieces and not much glass dust. The bottom of the glass is mirror glass and the top is black. It’s definitely an upgrade.

This black fire glass was just what we needed as a base layer to our ventless gas fireplace. We put a layer on about an inch thick, then we put tumbled lava rock on the perimeter to complete the look. Quick and easy!
