Great model to do with my daughter, and a great model for a serious modeller
I was very pleased with the overall quality of this model. The plastic was nice and thick, it has a great display stand and a good decal sheet, and overall the detail of the assembled model is really quite nice. Being a snap tight no glue is required, but some parts (notably the warp engine nacelles) feel a little loose without any glue, but it held together. As I mentioned it can be assembled without glue, but keep in mind it is still a Level 2 model and a child under 10 will not likely be able to assemble on their own. Having said that, I did this model with my 8 year old daughter who was able to do a good portion of the model without any major assistance; her biggest problem was in trying to snap some of the pieces together, her little hands just did not have enough strength. She was very pleased with the outcome, and we had a good time assembling it. I almost would like to have one of these for myself, to do a better modeling job with paint and maybe some glue to make the overall build seem a little tighter. The detail is very nice and it makes me think the larger scale 1:350 Enterprise by Polar Lights would be worth the cost, seeing the quality in this smaller scale version. We got it at a great price too right before New Years. I would highly recommend this model.

Five Stars, I love this kit!
A great looking ship! I believe that this is probably the best polar lights 1:000 kit. I have built 16 of these kits, as I have the entire TOS Constitution class fleet (including 3 versions of the Enterprise, and the other 13 Connies). Very little paint is required, and snaps together or a quick set up. The decals are accurate and you have options for light or dark windows. The only 2 MINOR gripes I have is the saucer secttion sometimes does not go together full, and requires trimming excess plastic with an x-acto knife, and sometimes the naucelle fitment can be tricky. Although, I have also had kits that go together perfectly, too. All in all, a great kit. I recommend.

You get what you pays for, and you don't complain
This is an OK build (*but see my addendum on the decals below). Not surprisingly, the other recent review's comments are about how much better the 1/350 model is, rather than how semi-good this one is. But not everyone has space for a 3' model, never mind the hefty price tag, leaving this 1/1000 version an ambivalently best choice for the casual hobbyist. -- on the one hand, extraordinary attention is given to tiny details of the various versions of Enterprise: the first pilot, the second pilot, the "Mirror" version, and of course the standard version which graced the remaining 77 episodes. Heck, you can make it the Constellation, the Defiant, or even the Exeter (from "the Omega Glory"; I had to look it up). -- You can choose whether to have vents or orbs on back of the nacelles [both being correct, of course], not to mention points on the front. Those who have studied "The Cage" footage in detail will appreciate that the decal set includes those minor differences, not to mention the slightly larger command dome. And the engine nacelles feature one clear plastic dome inside another, allowing the modeler to paint the inside one [to create translucent color]. The Botany Bay is a nice addition. On the other, the assembly does feel a bit cheap. The fit is not always very good, the size is rather small at 11-1/2 inches. Though made to snap together, I found it necessary to scrape & trim with a razor to get some parts together; even then, some parts still needed glue, and some never came together very well under any circumstance [e.g., gapping between the top & bottom halves of the saucer]. Assembling the stand as instructed results in a starship ready to fall off, so it's better to just ram the steel pin into the bottom of the ship. The one remarkably good part of the assembly is that the nacelles do not sag. Level 2 or no, it would take a remarkably talented modelist to get this model to look anything like the photo on the outside of the box. I can't help comparing this to the AMT model that I built several times, decades ago. That model had its own problems [see "The Trouble With Tribbles", where the model outside the K-7 clearly displays the AMT nacelle sag], but was more aesthetically pleasing, even with [or partly because of] the debated grid lines. This version is like having a so-so car with a really fantastic wrap job. The parts and decals speak to the obsessive detailist, while the so-so fit speaks of one happy with anything that's in the ballpark. Still, it made my son happy, and me more appreciative of what rewards await me in the 1/350. Addendum: The real fun of this model is in the decals; buying several allows one to create a small fleet, complete with proper registration numbers. Those decals do get tiny indeed -- having a magnifying glass on a stand will be essential -- but they add subtlety and interest, and indeed distract me from my complaints about the so-so fit. The opportunity to make [for example] the mirror-universe "I.S.S Enterprise" (complete with spiked-planet logos) brought back the excitement that was missing from the snap-together assembly, and I am raising my earlier three-star rating to four

Very accurate model
Very accurate model with very cool options. The only small problem is the seams on the secondary hull. It's a little small but loads of fun to put together and does require some cement on a few parts. Be careful not to lose any parts!!

Brilliant concept, flawed execution
On the surface, it seems a great idea, sure to please any real ST:TOS fan, essentially a diorama of a scene from one of the the most beloved episodes. However, the execution leaves much to be desired, mostly due to ill-fitting components and a snap-tight format that just can't be achieved without breaking, sanding or snipping. In the end, gluing becomes a must, which is never good for a kit billed as "snap-tight." The level-2 rating is going to attract younger modelers, perhaps even first-time builders, and this just isn't the kit for that sort of encounter. Yes, eventually, the model can be completed, but not without a lot of unnecessary frustration along the way..

Iconic model of an iconic spaceship
For us Trekkies, sometimes the most sublime gesture of respect is making a good model of this most recognizable of starships. This kit offers you the ability to model three different variants, including both early prototypes, as well as offering decals for the Mirror Universe variant and a Botany Bay into the bargain. This is one of the best researched version of this kit on the market, and with a little TLC can be turned into a real show-stopper.

Nice little model
Fan of the TOS so this space seed edition really intrigued me. Not sure if this is 1/1000 scale as it seems a bit small. Detail is great, some minor seam filling required but one can say that about any model. The little Botany Bay is a charmer. It did arrive way sooner than the expected delivery date but that's a good thing.

Nice little model
Easy to assemble. Pretty accurate. Not a Museum quality piece. But really nice for the price

This is an excellent little kit
This is an excellent little kit, detailing is very good, you can choose to build 1 of 4 versions of the ship, only just started to build it so i can't say much more about it yet.
