Pool Skimmer Net

This pool skimmer was ideal for us this summer. It was hearty enough to last all season long, picking up all of the debris that can often times fly into our pool. It is long enough that it was effective for cleaning the entire pool. It was lightweight yet strong. The net was very strong and has lasted well all season, even with heavy use. High quality and good value for money.

I received the item only a few days after ordering. It arrived on March 29 in good condition. I have used it every day at least once and sometimes twice. It has worked very well so far. I like the hard plastic frame which is very light and easy to maneuver even in the deep end of the pool. The edge slides effortlessly along the sides and bottom of my gunite pool. For those unfamiliar with gunite pools, it's a sprayed concrete that leaves, when done correctly, a beautifully and perfectly lined interior that's both aesthetically and functionally perfect. Prior to buying this pool rake, I had purchased one at Walmart simply because it was closer to my home. It was to replace the one I had been using for the least 7-8 years and had finally worn out. This Walmart pool rake turned out to be a mistake since the edge was a hard rubber vs hard plastic. It was impossible to use anywhere along the gunite because the rubber wouldn't slide at all...it would immediately get caught on the gunite and stop moving. It was like trying to use it on a rug or carpet. The rubber edge pool rake, I learned, is for pools with liners where the rubber edge would slide. This pool rake slides easily, is very light, it easily picks up debris on the walls and bottom. Once it gets full, it's still light enough to easily lift out of the pool. Behind my pool, my "back yard" is a small forest so I hang the pool rake over the fence, turn it upside down, and it is very easy to shake the debris out. I was a bit skeptical at first about the weighted tab but it actually functions quite well. The only thing I thought was unusual about this rake was that it came with a plastic adaptor tube that you need to fit onto the rake and then fit the opposite end onto the pole. With other pool rakes, they just fit directly onto the pole. This adaptor tube fit easily into the rake but...it took a little extra effort to get it to snap onto the aluminum pole. It would slide onto the pole easily but after lining up the pole holes onto the adaptor's small plastic buttons the buttons would not snap into the pole like it should...the buttons remained inside the pole. I had to play with it for a few minutes until the adaptor plastic buttons finally snapped into the holes. I'm afraid of removing the rake from the pole now (to use the wire or plastic brushes) for fear of not being able to snap the pool rake on again. I'll just get another aluminum pole (which I've wanted to do for a while now as a back-up since I've broken a couple in the past). I've only had this for less than 2 weeks, but so far it has worked perfectly. If anything major changes, I'll update this post. For now...I'm very pleased.

Nice pool net, but can’t find a pole that works with it
