FUN Offering and Discovering - Not overpriced...Just try them and Have FUN!
You know...this was something FUN to do. I didn't have a high expectation but it was fun to sit and break open the oysters. There were a variety of colors: peach, pale pink, white and even a black one. These are not perfectly round and not advertised as such. They do have a liquid inside as a preservative (probably formaldehyde). Believe me, no one would want to receive these if they did not have a preservative in them! We had puppy pads in the house and decided to use that to open them on. It's exciting to open and find the pearls. I searched for pearl jewelry to put them into and found a great selection that wasn't very expensive for a set of 15 in a variety that suits just about anyone's liking from little girls to grandma's. The chains were very thin and fragile so I ordered better sterling silver one's but the chains were a bit too large to go through some of the jewelry. In any event, I can see where this would be a fun thing to do during a party of most any kind...and much better priced than the online oyster parties. My daughter is getting married in Spring 2018 so we might do these with her brides maids for a fun evening one night before the wedding. But if your daughter is graduating, hitting a special birthday or any "just for fun event"...this would be fun to add. The size was much larger than the one I did at an online party. Buying the caliper now to measure the one's we have and will do in the future. Great price there too.So don't set a high expectation. They are FUN and pretty in their natural form. They are not overpriced - So just try them! We weren't disappointed and I will be buying them again! Thanks! The one photo shows the TINY $35 pearl (top right) that I purchased online vs the one's received in this order. We received 10 pearls in 10 oysters. These even have more shine. You can see in the final photo some of the pearls already in jackets. Enjoy!

Excellent for the price. Fun little surprises
This is an excellent value for the money, so it's hard to go wrong even if you don't get the color you want or something. I bought these to take to a visit with my family, but I had a few extra so I've opened 3 already. Hoping for a black pearl, I chose the smallest ones based on another review -- they were white, white, and pink sadly, so all the small ones are NOT black, except maybe in certain batches or by coincidence. But the surprise is part of the fun I guess, if you MUST have a certain color, you should probably just buy it. Assuming these are random, and some colors are more common than others, who knows what you might get... you might get 10 white ones, so you have to be ok with that or else order specific colors. The pearls were of different sizes, which was good -- I tried popping one into one of the cage pendants I bought, and the pearl was too large (which is the fault of the pendant, not the pearl), but the other two fit. They're slightly oblong, but mostly round... I'm sure they're seeded, but they're not shaped like a grain of rice, more like an egg or rounder. As far as I could tell the pearls were in the meat of the oyster and didn't seem like they were placed in there. If you think about it, pearls have to be made in an oyster... it's a lot more work to grow them in and then harvest them from one oyster, and open that oyseter up, take the pearl out, open up another oytser and stick the pearl inside. That seems stupid. I can't comment on if some of these are dyed because I haven't found a black or purple one (realistically they probably are), but I didn't notice any color abnormalities in the pink one I found. It seemed natural to me, and even if it wasn't it'd probably fool the average person. These oysters are NOT like what you get in a restaurant (heavy and thick-shelled), they're about 1 - 2 inches in diameter and the shells are paper thin. Of course you're only deaing with the shell for a second and then you throw it out, but it does seem a little "cheap". I found the easiest way to open them was to snap them in half in my hands... I tried to pry one open and the shell shattered anyways. They do come in a little juice which is a little gross, but it's minimal and not terrible. It's not so much it spills out or anything. I will say that several of them came "cracked", which is not to say open, but just that the shell had been broken but was held together. You still get the surprise of opening it, but I'll be sure to give my family the unbroken ones.I think for the price it's important to have realistic expectations, and recognize what is and isn't acceptable. I think the for price these are a GREAT bargain. I hope there's a black pearl in here, but even if there's not it's still a good price for a fun little activity and 10 real pearls.

Not round
Fun and colorful but none were round

planted, painted pearls
These may be natural cultured pearls, but the are definitely harvested, colored and then replanted into these oysters. There is one in each, but it is not attached to the oyster. The colors were also not as described. We got several green pearls, which is not one of the options. They look coated and the coating isn't consistent.

No color variety
No color variety they were all cream. They were a decent oval size.

Very Cool!
The oysters were a lot smaller than I expected. Only about 2 inches in diameter. With a couple that were more like 3 inches. Size didn't matter though. Even the small ones had good sized pearls. Each oyster had exactly one pearl. Most of our pearls were shades of pinkish with a few whites and two black pearls. I enjoyed the natural look of the pearls. They were all fairly smooth and all ovals. Some had some small defects where the culture was showing through. There was absolutely no smell. I was worried about that, but they were preserved well and individually vacuum-wrapped with a notch in the side of the plastic for easy opening. We rinsed them well before opening for good measure. The shells were quite thin and we're fairly easily opened with a knife (doesn't need to be sharp). I think we used a butter knife for some. Since they were thin shells they didn't always open neatly without breaks. They were not very "meaty" inside. The insides were pretty shriveled up, so you didn't really need to fish around for the pearl. It was fairly loose inside.Overall, it was a lot of fun. I would probably buy these again.

Great party favors
Got these as party favors for my daughters birthday and the kids loved them. Easy to break open and didn't have much odor at all. Really unique shapes and natural colors.
