It works, and delivery people use it!
I have had the smart drop box for over a year now. Initially I had issues with it connecting to my wifi, and after trying numerous times and searching online for a solution, trying a replacement from Amazon, I just gave up. I just used it without a pin code. The symptom was that all seemed to work fine during the connection process, except for the very last step where it actually connects to WiFi.So fast forward to earlier this week. The box stopped "talking" and eventually stopped opening. So I just had to recharge the battery. I opened the box with the key override, and removed the battery to recharge it. I decided to let it charge overnight, to ensure a full charge. The following morning the blue light on the battery was on, and I reinstalled it. Just for fun I tried connecting it again, and this time it worked on the first try! It updated itself to the latest firmware version, and all seems to work fine now.Was it after all the lower battery charge (voltage) which stopped the connection process? Or was it maybe the firmware in my Xfinity router? No idea, but it works now..!One small thing which I think is a design flaw, is the locking mechanism. About 50% of the time the first try to unlock it doesn't work. The second try works 99% of the time. Pushing the lid down when unlocking always allows the lid to open. So this points to too much pressure on the latching mechanism (tolerances too tight). Unfortunately it is very difficult to reach to modify, and I have not really seen an easy way to disassemble the front section without taking the whole box apart.Overall the quality of the box is great, it is surviving the tropical wet climate in South Florida, only the instructions sticker is coming off ...The motion detection seems to work fine (only been able to test it for a week), but I disabled the voice prompts when motion is detected.I think the box is a good deal for the $199 it is selling for at the moment. I paid more, and after struggling with it, it was not a great value, but there are very few alternatives available. Now it is working, I can recommend it, even for the price I paid . The box has kept many packages safe, but mainly dry!

We love it
We bought this in April of 2024 when there was a big sale...I think it was about $150. We wanted a box that looked decent, provided at least the illusion of security, and kept our packages out of the rain/snow. It does all of those things well. The pro's: It looks pretty dang good, especially somewhat hidden behind the bushes by the front door. It's made of high quality metal and painted nicely. The top cover is sturdy and opens/closes well. The inside stays dry so the amazon boxes stay dry. We have it set up without a combo so all the delivery guy has to do is click the open button, put the boxes in, and manually close the lid. The video camera worked well but ate the battery in a few weeks so we disabled it unless we manually turn it on via app. Otherwise, the battery works well for a couple months in the summer and at least a month in the winter with nearly daily deliveries. It took like 2 tries to get it to sync with our wifi; not sure why it didn't work the first time but other reviewers noted they had some difficulty. It has stayed perfectly synced since April of 2024. For $150 or so, there really aren't any cons. Super good buy.

You might want to wait on buying this.
I bought the Eufy Smartdrop with much anticipation since I already have numerous other Eufy devices (doorbell, gun safe, cameras, control panel, etc), in hopes of receiving packages at my house in a secure fashion, and all without a costly monthly subscription fee. My hopes have slowly faded now that I have spent weeks trying to connect my Smartdrop to my Homebase 2 in order to locally store any video it may collect. No matter what I have tried, between me and the Eufy support team we could not get the Smartdrop to allow the Homebase 2 to store the video. Oh, it will connect to the Homebase 2, and it will notify me that it is either open, closed, or that a package was delivered, it just won't store the video locally and for me that is a no-go.Eufy went so far as to ship me another Smartdrop control panel in hopes this would solve the problem, and that didn't work either. Eventually, Eufy just gave up and refunded me the money and said to keep the device since they didn't want it either.Does this mean it won't work for you? I can't answer that, but Eufy support told me this is a common problem. All I know is that it doesn't work as well as their other products and I don't know if this will work for you. The engineers at Eufy should figure this out and make it work.Update 04/15/24I bought a Homebase S380 in hopes I could store the videos from my Smartdrop locally rather than in "the cloud". So, I went through the whole process again to store my Smartdrop videos locally and when it asked me to add another homebase I added the S380 I just bought. Guess what, that didn't solve the problem.Their must be a problem with the app since it just goes around in a circle asking you to add another homebase every time you choose to store the Smartdrop videos locally. I contacted Eufy support and they told me they were sorry and that the Smartdrop won't pair with the S380.Up to this point, Eufy products were very good and their support was helpful. However, once I bought the Smartdrop their utility and support basically was worthless and a waste of time.I highly recommend their cameras and control panels, but I would not buy the Smartdrop until they figure out what the problem is. If I could give this product Zero stars I would.Update 04/16/24I have been persistent in trying to store videos locally on one of the homebases that Eufy sells, and I have been getting a variety of answers from:"At this time, we regret to inform you that our current firmware does not support integration with HomeBase 2 or HomeBase 3...Please be assured that our development team is aware of this limitation and is actively working on a new firmware release that will aim to address this compatibility issue."It would probably make sense to wait and see what happens if they can figure out to make it work as stated, or maybe they are planning on discontinuing this product and you should pass on buying it to avoid disappointment.
