Math in Focus: Singapore Math, Book a Grade 5 Paperback – January 1, 2013

Met our expectations.

The book quality exceed my expectation.

Bought multiple copies of this workbook for my child's classroom - their district did not have enough and several children did not have books. The teacher had to photocopy the pages each day for homework for the kids without books. Wish they would offer a discount on orders that contain multiple copies - or those which are obviously for a classroom.

We used this for 2 kids in our homeschool. I really don't feel that grade 5 explains concepts very well. It also skips several crucial skills in the main text, relegating them to the back of the book under "common core". These skills are covered in standardized tests so they really shouldn't be stuck in what is essentially an appendix where they can be easily missed. These skills also aren't covered in the accompanying workbook. This caused problems for my kids on standardized tests and future studies. I don't recommend the grade 5 books in this series.

Bought this book for in home use. One of the student workbook series "Math in Focus"'s for students. This workbook provides great word problems, riddles, challenging practice questions, and plenty of practice exercises to help my kid practices to understand what he is learning. His foundation is pretty solid after the training of this series. He has improved so much in his Beestar weekly challenges and got a nice ranking in the Beestar math competition. My kid and I are excited to see his strong problem solving skills. A really helpful series to have.
