Classic Indictment of Enslaver Society
Mark Twain does to Antebellum America what Jon Stewart does to America today. He calls out the stupidity and hypocrisy of U. S. culture and mores.

Old English writing
Kids these days aren't used to old English writing. When I was a kid it was good not so much for today's kids

Read to better understand the new book "James" by Percival Everett
I purchased this book because I wanted to read it again before starting the new book "James" by Percival Everett, which is a modern version of how the slave Jim saw the adventure with Huck.Huck Finn’s wild ride down the Mississippi with Jim is a real trip! It’s like a snapshot of old America, with all its quirks and questions about right and wrong. Sure, the lingo’s a bit old-school, but it’s all part of the charm. Just a heads up, it gets real about the past, and not all of it’s pretty. But if you’re down for an adventure with food for thought, give it a whirl! And then read the new "James" to bring it all together.

Loved this book
This book had been assigned to me when I was a child and not quite ready for it. Reading it now brought great pleasure. A note: This edition is in the original English and uses the "N" word often. It is my understanding that newer editions have substituted the word slave. I was negative on that but after reflecting have come to realize that it is a pretty reasonable substitution. Regardless, it is a great book.
