Very Impressed
Tried this instead of deet and I have been very impressed. It worked very well both abroad and at home on the yard. It wasn’t as smelly as the deet either and didn’t take your breath away or stink out the room.

Brilliant stuff - give it a try! Worked better than DEET for me.
I'm someone who mosquitoes absolutely love! It's been very problematic on holidays to hot climates, including once having to have steroid treatment for bites I got in Florida. I've been using DEET-containing repellents for a while but have never been very keen on it because of the smell and finding it quite greasy to use - plus it's never been that successful for me.This time I was going to be in the southern US for 6 weeks so decided to do some research on potentially better solutions. Having read quite a bit about repellents this led me to giving Autan a try. It has picaridin (20%) as the active ingredient rather than DEET. And having tried it I have to say I am hugely impressed with the results. In 6 weeks of using a picaridin repellent every day I got a grand total of only three bites on the entire trip. And that's spending time in TX, TN and GA in September/October.What was very insightful was that my wife, who the mosquitoes usually ignore and therefore she doesn't bother with repellent, managed to pick up quite a number of bites in the early days of our trip whereas I was completely bite-free. That encouraged her to start using it too with the same positive effect, with far fewer bites for the rest of the trip.I found the Autan spray to be easy to apply - it has a pleasant smell, was absorbed quickly and was not greasy. I think it is recommended to reapply every 8 hours, but to be honest it was very rare that I reapplied it and it was effective all day. One bottle lasted us around 3 weeks of everyday use. Alas, when we ran out we couldn't easy find it in the US but bought another S.C. Johnson product called OFF! (another with 20% picaridin) as an alternative and it was just as effective. As a couple of extra tips to anyone else mosquito-affected like me - I didn't wear any aftershave for the entire trip just to avoid scents that any bitey-things might find attractive. Also, I took an over-the-counter antihistamine (cetirizine hydrochloride) every day to minimise the reaction to any bites I did get. Obviously do your own research/get medical advice to make sure this is ok for you.So there you have it - sorry for the long review - but this has been a game-changer for me. None of the drawbacks of DEET (smell, greasiness, can damage plastics) and something that is pleasant smelling and gave me a lot of peace of mind when going out. Give it a try - I hope you get the same results!

Mostly effective
We went to Kenya this summer, and although we weren't in a malaria zone, we always have to be careful about getting bitten. Of course we had all our shots, but there's something about my blood (and by extension the kids) that draws the insects in like moths to a flame. I'm always getting bitten all over my body, and the bites always ache. So, this time I got some natural repellent bracelets, as well as some of this stuff. I didn't want anything with harsh chemicals in it because I was going to be putting it on the kids as well.I'd say it was mostly effective. I still got bitten half a dozen times in the two weeks we were there, but given that I'm normally bitten dozens and dozens of times it's a huge improvement. Some of the benefit I'll ascribe to the very pungeant natural bracelets, but they only seemed to protect the arm/leg they were on. This stuff I covered my body under my t-shirts and on my back. Underneath those, I wasn't got very often at all... maybe twice / three times.... So, I'd say that this is very well worth it.

Best
Went to the tropics in the wer season. Loads of mosquitoes and sandflies. Once applied this product successfully deters all of the biting insects. Only bites we had were during andd after shower before we managed to reapply. Used it interchangeably with deet repellent and didn’t notice that this one was any worse as a deterrent but is much better when it comes to texture and smell.

Keeping Mosquitoes Confused and Me Unbitten
Okay, so let me tell you about my summer romance with Autan. Picture this: I'm lounging by the campfire, s'more in one hand, Autan in the other, and mosquitoes? Nowhere in sight! It's like I became invisible to those bloodsuckers.Pros:- Repellent That Works: Seriously, mosquitoes took one whiff and said, "Nope, not today." I felt like a superhero warding off villains, except these villains wear tiny wings and crave my blood.- Non-Greasy Wonder: Unlike other repellents that leave you feeling like a walking oil slick, Autan is smooth and subtle. It's like my skin said, "Thanks for not drowning me in goop."- Smells Like Victory: Forget those chemical-heavy stinks. Autan smells like a crisp mountain breeze, but for mosquitoes, it's more like Mount Doom.Cons:- Can't Repel Compliments: Everyone kept asking why I smelled so good. I had to let them in on the secret: it's not just my charm; it's Autan!Bottom line: If you're tired of being a buffet for mosquitoes or smelling like you bathed in insecticide, Autan is your new best friend. It's like having a force field against bugs without the tacky aftertaste. So grab a bottle, reclaim your summer, and be the hero mosquitoes fear!Five stars from me and my bite-free arms
