I used the the 12 V starter to replace the electrical starter 120V. I used 12V car battery.

Modified! starts great!

At first glance, the new started looked exactly identical to the original. But when I went to bolt it onto the engine, I noticed that the electrical connection was angled toward the back of the machine instead of toward the front as was the case with the original starter. This is where the oil filler tube is located, so there wasn't much clearance between the starter electrical connection and the oil filler tube. Ultimately, I was able to loop the cable back and make the connection without interfering with the oil filler tube, so no harm, no foul. Other than that, the starter works perfectly. Just be aware that the location of the electrical connection may not be exactly the same as the original equipment. Great price, super fast delivery.

Perfect fit for a 1990 sears craftsman 30" rider/mover. Some reviews stated the mounting holes needed to be enlongated but i didn't have to do that. Mount all 4 bolts loosely then draw them in for a correct fit. The flang will adapt. Strong starter. It is 16 tooth so verify that first. Yes the drive gear is made of plastic but not the cheap stuff.

I had been hand starting a 12 HP engine on my chipper for years, then realized there was a place to install a electric starter motor. After much research to obtain the correct part I purchased this one. It was easy to install and works great. No more starter rope for me.

First defective armature internally shorted positive to negative. Second works ok.FYI position of positive + battery cable is on the wrong side for Tecumseh 12hp vertical shaft on riding mower. Not the best quality wiring & hardware but will.work.for now & not $120+.
