Rit dye is a life saver for accidental bleach accidents
So the other day I went shopping at my local swap meet and found some Vans Slip ons with some life left in them for around $13 I was ecstatic since I really wanted some but was not looking to spend 50 some dollars at the mall, I took the black Vans home washed them and decided to go against my moms advice to not bleach the inside as it will ruin the outside as well. I ruined my shoes but after some google searching I found the answer which was to dye them black again with Rit fabric dye. I am astonished at how dark and brand new my shoes look like now! Hopefully the color stays on long enough before I need to dye them ever again. Thank you Rit and Amazon for saving my shoes you guys rock 😊.. I used 2 packets for that new black look I got and followed the instructions to a T..

Tried and true
I used these boxes of Rit dye powder to occasionally re-blacken my black denim when I was in high school fifteen years ago. They were suggested by my dad who did something similar many years before that. They have stood the test of time and successfully got my black jeans back to their dark glory. I am sure there is a reason, but for a casual dye like my use case, you may be better suited getting a three-pack of the liquid dye from Rit. It seemed a bit more cost effective. But I am sure there are other use cases where the powder is the right product!

Not so good
It looks very good at the beginning but unfortunately it starts to fade quickly. They have a sealant or some other thing that you can purchase to seal the Diane supposedly. I think that should be included with the dye you're selling me a dye and now you're telling me it's going to fade and I got to buy another chemical to seal it that's just ridiculous in my mind. It looked amazing at first however if started fading very quickly. In addition you have to continue to wash the clothes separately so they do not stay in any other clothing that you may have.

Waste of money and time
Specifically for the black RIT dye, it did not work well. I dyed 4 tee shirts, and I used 12 packages of dye, just to make extra certain everything came out uniform. I also let the shirts soak 24 hours in the dye and used the RIT Color Fixident. The four shirts came out four different colors. Only one of them (which went in white) actually came out black. The red one was the worst. I agitated the dye every couple of minutes for the first two hours, yet the shirt came out looking incredibly uneven. I won't ever buy black dye from RIT again.

Before I used these almost religiously to refresh my older pair of yacht jeans. I had not only purchased this product once, but twice in a row. The first time I blamed myself for not heating the water properly before inserting my 100% cotton jeans into the batch. The second time I followed the instructions to the dot and my end result just looked purple. I was either given a fake Rit dye or their quality went downhill. Not impressed.
