Amazing results
This machine is amazing. I do need to upgrade to a bigger model though. For instance, we made store prepared chicken burgers and could only fit two patties at a time, overlapping slightly until they started to cook up. And they cooked up really well. Reminded me more of how they turn out on the grill as opposed to the oven. We have two small children, and enough fries for the four of us takes two batches. I cut up four chicken wings into eight pieces and that was all i could comfortably fit at once in a layer. Three corndogs on sticks was the max i could fit, but they came out so evenly golden as if deep fried. We have been cooking the kids food, then ours in a separate batch. I would love to eliminate a second round of cooking, but we're often eating different things so it sometimes works out. 21 minutes to perfect chicken wings. Seasoned and lightly sprayed with cooking spray and they were far superior to take out wings. Pulling things apart to clean has been a little struggle, and the manual didn't give me much confidence that i was doing it right, but it cleans easily after that.

Works much better than I expected. Made Japanese style chicken karagge last night and this weekend we will do oysters! Yay!
This air fryer exceeded my expectations. I saw one of these a few months ago in a store and became curious so did some research and finally decided this was the best. I think Philips has a newer model with digital timer and other digital controls -- but in my view that is just more things that can break. When introducing new products manufacturers tend to over engineer the first one or two models. I think this is the case with this one. It is very simple. I has a heating element and fan inside and only controls are the manual temperature dial and timer. All you have to do is put your food in the basket; insert the basket; set the temperature and then set the timer. Check your food by simply removing the basket. About half way through you might want to stir the food with a fork -- but that is about all you have to do. Once cooked put your food on a standard bakers cooling rack with a couple paper towels under it. Clean-up is very easy. Use a plastic spatula so you don't scratch the non-stick coating.

very happy with the first use!
i've been wanting one for ages. i actually stopped making egg rolls because i didn't want to deep fry them anymore, and stink up the house even with all the doors closed. the price for this was right so i got it. it was bigger than i thought it would be. and i didn't think it looked cheap like some of the other reviews mentioned but maybe my standards for airfryers are lower, who knows. i used it for the first time tonight to airfry up some frozen egg rolls. instead of tossing them in a tablespoon of oil, i put that amount of oil in a small dish and used a pastry brush to brush on the oil so i don't waste any oil. that seemed to work fine. i airfried them for 10 minutes (shook them up halfway) as directed and they cooked perfectly. plus, my air purifier didn't go crazy (on maximum) cleaning the air. it didn't even noticed that i fried anything. it goes on 9 (out of 10) when i just fry eggs with the overhead fan on. anyway, now i can make egg rolls again!

Simple reliable airfryer with a couple shortcomings
This unit works fine as a low-end Airfryer on Philips' line-up. Some of the things I wish worked better are: - If you open the tray while the fryer is working, the fan/heat will still run rather than turning off. - For you to turn the dial to reduce the cook time, it takes a considerable amount of force. Without reading the instruction, you'd think you are doing something wrong. - For a 1/4 lb of thin sliced french fries, it takes a considerable amount of time to make it crispy hot: 15 min. Otherwise, I'm fairly happy with the purchase and the simplicity of this unit's build should add to longevity I hope. In case of any failure, I'll make an update to this review in the future.

FAST AND DELICIOUS
Incredible product. We bought this as a gift as a combo gift for in laws who had never heard of an Air Fryer. Product received on time and after we opened it immediately washed it down and used it. We made a basket of fries to show them how it works. An off brand of fries was cooked perfectly and with no salt or added ingredients we set them out and they both could not believe how well and down right delicious it was in comparison to traditional oven rack baking. We then tried ring bologna to see if something that simple would cook. In less than 10 minutes perfect ring slices of bologna was completed and it was simply delicious. Something that simple can take on new flavors. But it was how quick and delicious it was done in an attempt to show them how it works. Simple to use, simple to clean and amazing to know the hustle and bustle of cooking can be done in one device so fast.. Phillips is THE BEST device in the market for Air Fryers. Thanks Phillips!

Cooks wonderful chicken without loss of moisture or flavor
I've had this product now for two years and I love it. I use it to cook chicken, hamburgers, French fries, chicken nuggets, meatballs, onion rings, bacon wrapped shrimp... I love it. I even dropped it on the concrete sidewalk when I first purchased it and it's never had a problem. I read one review that said that it rested and I've never seen any rust. It is so easy to clean. I bought one twice the size for my daughter and she uses hers for her family of 5 on a regular basis. Such a wonderful product. Thank you thank you!

Worth the money
My kids pitched in and purchased this for their dad for Fathers Day. He loves to fry fish and everything else in good ole oil. The smell lingers for days. We weren’t sure what he would think of this gift but he loves it! He was frying up fish and shrimp within a few days. It’s very easy to use! We use it to reheat left overs which is an extra bonus! I plan on buying more tools to help us fully utilize this great machine! My eldest, college age son is hoping to get one for apartment! When we first started looking into this product, about 2 weeks before Fathers Day, the price was $10 cheaper than what we purchase it for. We purchased it a week later.

Disappointing quality/appearance/features
I bought this for my wife as a Christmas gift, and don't get me wrong, it works very well. Mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and chicken come out even better than a deep fryer. What disappoints me is what you get for the cost of this unit. I bought it at $160, and had to laugh seeing now for $212.59. If you want this, I'd probably by the cheaper 'old' model. If this didn't say Philips on it, you would think it came from the dollar store. It is a big piece of black plastic appliance with a total of 2 controls on it. There is a drawer, there is a heating element like you would see in your oven, and there's a fan. That's about it. You set the temperature by spinning a large primitive plastic wheel and hope you get the appropriate temperature. The temperature gradations are so large, 25 I think, that it makes setting specific temperatures for cooking very difficult. Once you pick your temperature, you set the plastic cranky timer to the number of minutes you want to cook for and it simultaneously turns on. The fun thing is that there is no power button. If you decide you want to shut the unit off before time is up, you have to unplug the unit from the wall. Pretty cool for a $212.59 appliance right? You can't even turn the timer forward to shut the unit off, if you do so, it doesn't budge and feels like it's going to break. So, the only option is to unplug it. Things that cost this much should be loaded with features. There should be a power switch, at least for safety, and there should be a digital display for selecting the temperature with 5 degree gradations. Overall, the unit seems cheap and crude. When it's in front of you it appears to be worth about $60, and they are probably produced for less than $10-15. The cookbook is really nice and I believe there was much more thought put into it than the air fryer.

We should have purchased this a long time ago!
Our entire family uses this product. Works very well, a little loud, time consuming to clean. Cleaning the unit is my biggest complaint, mainly because my teenagers leave it for me or my wife. It takes time to disassemble, clean the four pieces and you have to let it air dry. There are far too many difficult areas to towel dry. On a more positive note, it's better than oil fryers, cleaner, no oil, works just as well. It would be nice to have a larger basket, but we would need that capacity very often.

Very good airfryer
We are very pleased with the Philips Airfryer. Breaded fish and chicken come out nice and crispy outside and moist and tender inside. The Viva model is small so it will not take a whole chicken unless you can find one under 4 kg. We cut one in half and it was done to perfection. It is too bad the accessories are extra and cost so much. The basket shelf would have been a nice accessory to have included.

Me encantó
