Great Product
I bought the Proxxon Micromot 50 EF Rotary Tool for a CNC micro drill press. This unit is better choice over considering a Dremel motor head for the same application and budget size. No perceptible side to side play of the arbor. Very solid. For example, the bearings are superior quality to eliminate high frequency vibration that often breaks 1/8" shank micro drill bits. The DC power input to the motor also helps in this regard too. Versatility is extended by the EF 50's built in speed control and a mounted-in-metal press to lock the arbor button helps change bits.Because the mounting boss [item #2 in the picture] is a built-in 20mm O.D x 7.25mm wide steel ring instead of plastic, it solidly transfers and protects the output bearings from clamping pressure. No worries about crushing, misalignment or creep of the drill head from a loose mounting grip you're afraid of over-tightening especially from a rapidly moving CNC where the inertia due to accelerating, traversing, then decelerating weight of the motor head may gradually loosen the mounting clamp grip on non-steel mounts. For the interested CNC reader, my CNC micro drill uses this mount 20mm Shaft Support Pillow Block but the 3 jaw chuck is about half way recessed up into the bore making changing bits a bit of a hassle. My plan is to change the chuck from a round to a hex style body [then a small spanner can be used to loosen the chuck and change the bit] will eliminate removing the Micromot from the clamp to change the bit. An 8mm thick mount could be machined but for now not in the budget. This is the only downside I found for the nano-wallet CNC micro driller guy/gal using this motor head. ;) But I'm talking budget right ? LOL Okay, moving on...The transition joint between the olive green plastic motor body to the black anodized machined [not cast] aluminum of the arbor piece is engineered in a way to complement the firmness of the metal parts which house the bearings for the output shaft. It's a 18 volt (max) DC motor, but that is easy to solve for the clever owner of one of these. The plug is polarity marked and you can go from there. Or buy the companion Micromot power supply if you want a turn-key situation. For the basement tech hobbyist/hacker, the 50 EF is a great buy cost vs quality over other higher priced dedicated drill motors I could have bought for the same CNC duty I use this for.Disclaimer stuff- No. I'm not a Proxxon affiliate, employee or advertiser. And NO, Proxxon hasn't neither approved of how I use their great versatile product or this review. YES, my skills may not be the same as your skills. So your results will vary and no responsibility is implied or suggested as to how you, the reader, interprets, puts into action or modifies any information contained in this review.DON'T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR SAFETY GLASSES and observe other appropriate protection measures for you, others around you, your surroundings and people or pets that may happen to "pop in" at the wrong moments when using any such high speed power tools and equipment!!Very satisfied.

Great little Tool!
This little tool has a sweet feel and great balance!! It also runs true. It is the third in a line of attempts to get another tool to take some of the load of my Foredom tookl, and from having to do all of my work on my primary heavier duty Foredom cable tool. I bought a cordless model at Harbor Freight that came with only one battery. And the battery lasted all of about 15 minutes on a charge! Ridiculous! Then I was considering a cordless "Dremmel Micro". It looked like a nice tool, but it is a rechargeable stand tool, and it only comes with one battery. And coming out of the box with just one battery was unacceptable to me, for a tool that costs nearly 100 dollars by the time you pay the taxes on it. What was Dremmel thinking? So I tried a Dremmel model 2100 that costs around 65 dollars, 71 dollars + some change after taxes..And when I got home and chucked up a tool.and started trying it out, it did not run true, or even close to it. There was so much end wobble that my1/64th burr became at least a 1/32nd one while it was running. And I have seen this very sane complaint about Dremmel allot lately. How can Dremmel allow such poor quality tools to be put out on the shelves?Anyway, I had previous experience with Proxxon, and I loved my old Proxxon A/C tool. But sadly, I tried to use it in a situation where I really should have been using at least a small side grinder, and in so doing, I burned a resistor out in it. Now I am looking forward to using this new DC Proxxon version. Anyone who compares the feel and the much smaller grip area and the relative lightness of this tool compared to most of these other brands type tools will probably be spoiled to this Proxxon tool from now on!

Proxxon 28512 rotary tool
I used a Proxxon hot wire cutting tool to form styrofoam props for plays so I have the 12v power supply. When my wireless Dremel tool wouldn’t charge up any more I thought I would get another one but the rechargeable battery thing put me off. Seeing this item used the same power supply that I already own, I pulled the trigger and bought it from Amazon. I think this is a really nice tool that’s easy to hold and use. I suggest that you purchase it but get the 12v supply at the same time. It’s good for other Proxxon tools too!

rotary tool
have 3 dremel tools but for small n fine work this tool is awesome. but you will need the transformer 5 e or s i dont remember the no. to run this tool as it is 12-18 volts dc. also remember to specify transformer input voltage as US is 110 v ac n other country like uk could be 220 v ac. otherwise a great tool.

Impressive longevity with moderate to heave use
The media could not be loaded. This rotary tool still works like a champ after more than four years of moderate to heavy woodworking use.Note to prospective buyers:I originally purchased Proxxon’s professional rotary tool. Though it had significantly more power, it only lasted a few months of heavy use.I did not want to spend another $130 on a new professional tool, so I opted for this less expensive alternative. I was initially disappointed in the lack of power of this device as I intended to use it for significant wood shaping with a carbide shaping wheel. It will bog down to a stop under heavier loads. However, it performs well for detailed carving, engraving, sanding and buffing. I expected this device to die in just a few months—like its big brother.. For some reason, it just keeps working! I’m very satisfied with it and will be buying another, along with Proxxon’s multiple tool power supply.I highly recommend this rotary tool for the above described capabilities. Just don’t buy it if you need a powerful rotary tool.
