A Convenient Time Saver
My chickens like to go out bright and early, and they like to stay out until dark. That means I have to get over there in a timely fashion. But sometimes, I am not able to get there on time. This automatic chicken door opener makes my life so much better! Although it took me a bit to figure out what time I should set it to (they were stuck outside one night), the girls and I have gotten the hang of things and are enjoying the convenience of letting this do-dad do the work for me.I have mounted mine inside so I don't have to worry about it getting rained or snowed on, but it seems durable and well made. It also has a gasket you put around the edge to keep moisture out and protect the inside from breaking.Downsides:1. it was kind of hard to figure out the programming at first, and when it works.2. it's slow! I guess I won't have to worry about any chickens getting stuck in the thing since they would have plenty of time to get out of the way.3. I'm a little worried about battery life. It says 6 months, but we shall see how it goes.Overall, I would recommend this product. It makes my life a lot easier!

Works great, needs wifi option
Adapted this to open and close my dog door with the timer. Works well as expected, would love to be able to open the door via wifi

Disappointed
Received a used unit, but paid full price. The string was tangled and I had to work on that before it could even be installed. Came in a weird box that had a different product in it originally. Unit was not wrapped. Was dirty. Had no instructions. Had to look on YouTube to figure out how to program it. Bought it to replace a unit that was given to me. Would have returned it, but desperately needed it to keep my flock safe while I was away. Deeply disappointed due to the amount I paid, but so far, unit has worked as it’s designed to work. Just wish it had been a new unit since I paid for new, not used or refurbished.

Great value and product, definitely not perfect though.
The media could not be loaded. This chicken door saves me time every morning and evening, and liberates me to worry about more important things than closing/opening the chickens. While the product is overall exactly as advertised, I have some notes as the product has failed twice:1. The batteries realistically only work for 2 months and seem to get drained quicker than they claim. No biggie, just keep it in mind if you see it acting sluggish.2. If temperatures dips below 25 degrees (F) or so, keep an eye out because the electronics could freeze up.3. Make sure whatever door you install can’t get caught on anything, and that if you use wood you give plenty of space in case the board swells with moisture. Keep it clear from any degree the chickens might kick in the doorway.4. If you notice the unit has failed and the buttons are swapped (up makes it go down, etc.) was then the string has gotten looped over the inner spool too much. Push one of the buttons and allow it to swing around the spool and straighten out.5. It might be a good idea to add some kind of an overhanging protector for the unit (if you can’t put it inside the coop) such as I did with a plastic container. I specially cut so the string can pass freely through it. Small things like that can make the unit last longer over time.6. ENJOY THE FREEDOM!!!

No More ChickenGuard
This purchase (October 2021) was our 4th one. We truly liked the products, but now they ask additional $25 to activate light sensor. The ones we purchased from 2020 wasn't controlled by PIN. We got the impression that the company is squeezing every bit of money. We don't support that kind of business model, so decided to purchase thier competitor's.Huge disappointment and regret that we had spent approximately $700 in total for 4 openers.Update:Chicken Guard explained the situation. Based on that, we bought premiums before. They have the exact same machine for standard and premium. However, standard comes with pin locked for LUX setting and premium comes as unlocked. To sell cheaper, they on purposely block the pin. I understand that they want to make profit for LUX setting for extra $25, but...how they approch isn't quite right to me. First, I thought they added pin block for theift purpose. I'm sorry but I disagree with their business practice.Side note: Amazon review reply was quick, but regular customer service took about 5 business days. First email was we asking pin, their reply "send us picture" after 5days, sent a picture, another 5 days, "that service costs $25 and if you agree we will send an invoice" was thier reply... So we decided to buy other company'sIf you know what you are getting, the machine's good enough. I agree the motor is weak as other review said, and plan to replace it every 2-3 years.

Not predator proof!!!
Raccoon figured out how to lift the door. Lost 5 chickens and bought a different door with a geared closing mechanism

Great automatic door!
This was very easy to install. It's working very well. I like the simplicity of the door. It's weatherproof. We recently had a huge storm go thru and had a small coop turn over on its side from the wind. I was worried the door would not work but it's still working.
