I've done several of these Rokr projects and this one was by far the most challenging and entertaining. The only caveat to add is that having some wood glue on hand is advisable: several of the gears are subjected to a fair amount of torque and will be forced out of place with extended use. Gluing them onto their axle adds strength and durability. The same holds true for some certain struts that hold a major platform in place - gluing makes them far more reliable.As with other wooden projects, wood is a questionable medium for a mechanism that is heavily gear driven (which is why most clockwork devices use metal gearing). Don't expect to get a lot of play with this orrery once you've constructed it, but the wow factor is the beauty of building something extraordinary in an improbable material. Making something impractical work is half the fun!

Very satisfying model to build but only for careful builders with patience the ability to follow instructions to the T.

It is complicated to put together , when done, it’s AWESOME!! Used it for a center piece for a teacher event and they all wanted to know where to get one. My son is taking it with him to college so I might have to order another one!!

We assembled this in less than 6 hours. I highly recommend you use a better lubricant than what is included.
