Nice tonewood and good ctraftsmanship
The instrument is made of a nice, quality plum wood and hard plastic, likely bakelite joints and mouthpiece. The plum wood is clean grained. There were a couple of miniature knot edges, but there no actual knots. The craftsmanship is good, the turnings are clean, no burrs or splinters. The outside is nicely finished, but not oiled, so the user can decide what oil to use. The finger holes are very nicely done, cleanly cut, but without sharp edges. A minor issue is that one of the inner plastic joint rings was very loose, but since it was not an end piece or the mouthpiece, that had no functional relevance. Overall, for the price, the execution is very nice, especially that this a real wood instrument, not one made completely of plastic. The sound is good, but don't expect a concert soloist or high end instrument. Those sell from for many times of the price of this kaval.I am happy with the purchase. Communication with the seller was easy. The shipping was fast and actually arrived one day earlier than initially projected.Highly recommend both this instrument and the seller, the Corsaro Music Store.

harder to play
I'm still new to the kaval so take my review with a grain of salt. The PVC kaval I bought from the same company is remarkably easier to play than this plum wood kaval. I find it very difficult to get consistent tones on this while the cheaper, PVC kaval is much easier. Also, the 3 pieces of this wood kaval fit together loosely, sometimes coming apart.
