Easy to use and good suction power
The VAX Air Lift 2 easily and conveniently lifts out from an upright vacuum to a handheld unit, so that I can hoover the stairs with the attached hose and accessories. The hose measures approximately 4.4 feet or 130 cm when stretched, and can still be used whilst as an upright vacuum for cleaning the settee or corners of the room etc. The VAX has a good power cable length of 30 feet or just over 9 m, which allows me to hoover the whole of the upstairs and the staircase Plus hallway without having the inconvenience of relocating the plug to a nearby socket. The vacuum has 2 bracket arms that the cable can neatly be wrapped around, And between these brackets there is a bracket that the to in one brush and crevice nozzle can be attached to. The dirt collection chamber simply detaches from the unit with the press of one button, Allowing me to take it to the bin and a press of another button emptying the contents. The handle or as VAX call it the wand is the only thing that has to be inserted when the vacuum is unboxed, which I have to complement VAX on using all recyclable packaging. The quick and easy detachable wand is definitely a bonus for me as it allows the vacuum to be stored under the staircase cupboard for neatness. When hoovering I personally found it very easy to use and was genuinely surprised in how much dust and carpet fluff was in the collection chamber when hoovering just one bedroom, Which is the video that I have attached with this review that I thought looked clean. I must say with the brush agitator and suction strength of this Hoover, The thick pile looks and feels like it was when first laid. When hoovering hard floors it is very easy to manoeuvre and the brush agitator when turned on definitely makes the Hoover easy to manoeuvre on carpet especially thick pile carpet, But doesn’t have to be turned on just depends on the individuals strength. Overall I am very satisfied with its performance.I hope you have found my video and review helpful.

Picks up well
ProsStrong suction and great cleaningFantastic lighted roller headQuiet(ish)Easy to manoeuvreDeals with pet fur no problemConsEmptying not the bestMains cable insulation very soft and very inconspicuous in dimly lit areasOn/Off switch (light) grey on a dark grey bodyIt's generally a good vac but I'll elaborate on some of my minus points.Emptying - it does seem to build up static in the collection drum which means the dirt doesn't always just drop out at the opening of the drum - you may have to poke a finger in there to help ease it out - it's nowhere as bad as my Vax Blade 3 but they really do need to get this issue fixed.Mains cable - it’s a dark grey colour and very long which means if you're not paying 100% attention it's easy to roll over - I did this on second time of using the vac and although the unit stopped due to it getting pulled in by the rollers it did damage the outer insulation of the mains cord quite badly - I've run over the cord of our (more powerful) Dyson several times without this happening to the cable. I'm an electronics engineer by trade and wasn't impressed by the durability of this cable at all.The mains on/off switch is grey in colour on a grey body (albeit different shades) yet the button to turn the brush on/off is blue - wouldn't it have made more sense to have the coloured button as the mains switch? Maybe that's just me...

A excellent hoover
I am amazed with this product. I class myself as a very clean person and have tried many vacuums in the years however this is brilliant for the one reason Is that it shocked me to my core!So I unpackaged the hoover which came in the box pictures and each little part was packaged in its own little “hover bag” style packaging. It came with full instructions and tools and was ready to use straight from the box. Once I read the instructions I put it together and tried the heads of the tools and started to see what it all was about.I was impressed with the multi tool however it is a shame that this is the only one which can be carried around with the hoover (it has a clip on the side to slot it into).I had already hoovered that morning and so I turned on the hoover and started to test it out on my landing thinking that I would have to wait till the next day or two before I could test for sure as having previously hoovered that day I could not give a fair review. Well this is when I got the shock of my life.I hoovered the stairs and landing and the result is in the picture - the amount of dust that came up after previously hoovering with another high branded hoover is scary.I have been hovering using my normal hoover for all this time and it has obviously not been picking everything up! I have a good hover too - high suction power (or so I thought!) anyway I was shocked, horrified but I am so so glad I have this hover as I can now feel like my house is clean!!!

"Air™ Lift - UK's Lightest Corded Lift-out Cylinder" - ...Not Really! Not Even Close
**Scroll down to the bottom of the review for a quick Q&A of it's qualities and flaws. We have a previous incarnation of the Vax Air Lift vacuum. We also have an old model of the Dyson corded upright vacuum, one which is not anything special anymore compared to their newest releases, irrespective of this, it's still a good solid, reliable workhorse that cleans deep within the carpet fibres which is essential for us as we have a Ragdoll cat. If you know anything about Ragdoll, they have very fine, soft fur which often remains airborne. When it accumulates on the carpets, it can get tied in deep into the inner fibres making them almost impossible to work out, even with a corded vacuum - which in my experience, has more power than a cordless for the job.All except our Dyson struggles with this very fine fur in deep pile carpet. Even our previous (non 'Pet') Vax Air Lift. Which is very good at shifting surface dirt, but struggles with deeper layers and also with our thick coir fibre door mats. The Vax Air Lift is known as the worlds lightest lift-out corded cyclonic cylinder vacuum. But we've found that trying to tick all the boxes has meant compromising on overall power and suction. This is reflected in the price which is much more reasonable than Dyson's most advertised and newer equivalent of the same - which is suited for large homes with pets and usable on a mixture of hard and soft floors. the downside of that one is that its cordless with a cylinder which is incomparable in volume to the larger Vax cylinder.Included in the box for the Vax are a small selection of accessories:Turbo tool; Two in one dusting brush and pull in crevice novel;Textile tool. The usual lineup which adds that extra dimension in simplifying your vacuuming in hard to reach/difficult areas. The upright Vax weighs 6.5kg, which isn't the lightest for an Air Lift model, which claims to make the transition to handheld to upright easier! I was quite surprised by the weight which weighs just 400g less than the Dyson Smallball - which doesn't market itself as a weightless vacuum. It comes with a two year standard warrantee which you need to register for in order to benefit from the full period. There is a fairly short 9 metre cord which is a bit annoying for us as our kitchen extends beyond this length, meaning I have to move the plug about to clean the entire room which is the favourite room for our pets so every inch needs to be cleaned. The cylinder has a 1.5 litre capacity.• The Niggles:For us was the difficulty in manoeuvring this vacuum over carpet - especially thicker carpet, it was quite a task! Nowhere near as smooth as the Dyson. You could consider it a bit of an exercise in strength training. If you're planning to buy it for someone elderly, or with joint issues, this may not be the best choice for carpeted areas as it is difficult to move with the strength of the suction and the closer lying head to the floor.• Is it better than our previous model of the Air Lift? Most definitely! Great at picking up animal hair from hard floors and thinner carpets.• Is it as Good as our old Dyson? Not really. But it's priced much more reasonably. The suction may seem strong on our thick carpets, but it fails in effectiveness ...and manoverability.• Is it light to lift in the "air"?Nope. Unless your family is made up of The Incredibles.• Does it slide across thick carpets with relative ease?No way!3 stars most advertised and newer equivalent of the same
