Dark high school bully romance
Summer Savage and Whit Lancaster met each other when they were fourteen. Whit maliciously shared that his father and her mother (both of whom were married to other people at the time) were having an affair. Whit was angry and resentful that the affair had disrupted his family and he felt both scorn and contempt for her. But although he had those negative feelings, he also was drawn to her. They shared their first kiss. Fast forward three years and Summer's mother is using her influence with Whit's father to enroll her in the exclusive and prestigious Lancaster Academy. Whit's parents are divorced, a result of the affair between his father and her mother having become public knowledge. Summer's stepfather (whom she loved and respected) and her warped, disgusting stepbrother are dead. She's still mourning her stepfather's death. When Whit discovers Summer's a student at the academy founded by and named for his family, he makes it his mission to make her life miserable. In doing so, he enlists the support of the student body. But the initial attraction they shared still exists. Their relationship takes many twists and turns. His blackmailing scheme puts her in a precarious position and they become lovers, although he continues to insult and belittle her. But Whit is fighting a fierce internal battle against his growing feelings for Summer. He knows he's obsessed with her, but chooses to believe it's only because he's making her pay for what her mother did. Their relationship is gradually changing and at times Whit can't hide his evolving emotions. At times I found this book a bit drawn out, plot-wise. I also sometimes cringed when Summer gave in so easily to his sexual demands. At other times she showed strength and resilience. I didn't care much for Whit's character for well into the book. He did eventually redeem himself and they became the solid couple that they clearly were meant to be. Whit's family was a mess: his mother was vile, controlling and snobby, his father wouldn't stick up for his son when it came to a so-called family obligation, and his sister Sylvie (while likeable and friendly for much of the story) hatefully turned on Summer when she most needed the support of her friend. Whit and Summer both endure much angst before everything's resolved. I'd also like to say that although high school age during the majority of the story, both Whit and Summer often acted more mature than real-life teens at that age. More like in their mid-twenties, at least. One reader mentioned Whit should've had to grovel more before Summer took him back after a major breakup. While normally I also like the man to grovel when he's been in the wrong, this time I felt more groveling wasn't needed. Even before the breakup, Whit's true feelings were becoming obvious. Plus the breakup wasn't entirely his fault; his family's actions didn't help the situation. I would recommend this book, but anyone reading it should be aware that it's more dark and has a lot more angst than other Meghan Quinn books that I've read.

it’s complicated but I don’t hate it lol
First off, I love the Dom/Sub vibes here. The SMUT scenes are amazing! My dissent with this book stems from a few things.1. I don’t like how Whit didn’t gravel much to win Summer back. I suppose my issue is more so with Summer bc if someone hurt me like Whit did, he would have had to confess his love much faster than he did. I also wouldn’t allow him back into my pants. I wish she would have stood her ground more.2. How the hell could she not tell Monty was setting her up? Like girl BFFR. It’s blatant what he was doing in Paris. That could have been better in my opinion3. Her relationship with Sylvie during the end of thanksgiving…girl ?????? What? Idc sylvie pissed me off bc her outrage didn’t make sense. Okay so she didn’t spend as much time with you. Her reaction to Summer was off the wall to me. How tf could she know what your mom was doing if you didn’t really talk to her? It just didn’t make sense. She became a villain for no reason.4. I wish Sylvia got more payback from Whit/Summer. Idk, her actions were not avenged enough for me. She deserved worse for how she treated them.5. I was hoping that Summer would have found her father. Though, I guess that would have been predictable.6. There are several plots here in the story in their relationship, but I do think Whit’s character development was impeccable. I would have liked to see more on Summer’s side. To me, she never developed a backbone. There are ways to be submissive but still have some sort of respect for yourself. All those aside, the smut is 10/10. So, that’s why it gets a 4/5 for me.

Another Top Read for Fans of Monica Murphy
I gave myself the worst talking to for waiting 6 months to pick this book up, but it was worth the wait — all 50 amazing chapters. I read this book after I read A Million Kisses in Your Lifetime, but nonetheless, I loved every minute of this book!Whit and Summer defied gravity with their constant push-pull. I didn’t know which way was up or down with them. I loved it!I love books where I can’t make out the ending because it’s so many factors to consider while reading. You may think one thing and as soon as you turn the page…BOOM! Your whole view changes. Monica Murphy did just that with this book.

Great read.
4 ⭐️I was nervous to read this books because I read million kisses in your lifetime first lol and I think that book is for a younger reader. The FMC is very innocent. And I don’t love reader them sort of characters. I did like that book but I found this one to be much better. Obv it’s high school still and they meet when they are 14 but the story is over a period of years. The ending mainly being them much older. I wish half this book was with them in their 20s but I still enjoyed it.I actually read it in two sittings which doesn’t happen a lot. The story is gripping. I constantly needed to know what was going to happen next.Definitely recommend this book.Summer was sweet and innocent but written better than the other female I read and whit was a prick but I fell for him.Good bully romance.

Passionate and steamy
I enjoyed reading this book it was raunchy and very steamy 😛. I like my smut but I couldn't give this five stars because I was expecting so much more to happen than what transpired within 600+ pages. The chemistry between Whit and Summer was smoking and I did enjoyed the dark romance but I thought the journal would play more part in the conflict between Summer and Whit; it all felt rushed coming up to the last chapters I felt Summer didn't have enough motivation to grow.Overall a fun read a solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars.I will read the second book in the series.

So good!!!
I loved that although this was pure smut there was character progression. Whit was so angry before and was full of hate. I loved how he matured and became a happier person. Such a great read! I love how Summer also grew as well by living in somewhere new. This series is so good!! Can't wait to read the rest!!

Really loved this book! It was so intriguing and I found myself reading it at 3am as I couldn’t put it down. Some people may not like the concept of Whit but you begin to warm to him!
