Love it!!! Safe and secure!!
Summary, awesome! Love it!My wife and I are in a house that has 2 levels and hanging lights on the roof above the garage was impossible and dangerous because of the slope of the roof so you couldn't do it from above, and I didn't have a ladder high enough to reach. BUT the you could get onto the ridge of the first level and then climb to the ridge of the second level. Only problem was you couldn't go down the roof at all because of the steepness of it. This meant we were going to go "lightless" for christmas this year.I did check with people that hang lights professionally and the going rate was about $175.. Way too much for me to spend. So I did some searching and found these ridge mount ladder hooks. I had no idea something like this existed. After reading the reviews I wasn't sure if they would work because people mentioned how unsafe it was, etc. But I decided I could always return them if they didn't work so I pulled the trigger and ordered 2.The box arrived and was beat to hell, but that was ok, these are made of steel and if it can't take the abuse of UPS getting it to my house there is no way I would trust it with my life. Good news, they were in perfect condition when I pulled them through the hole in the box.I was using these on my little giant which I wasn't sure would work, but I am happy to say it did, it worked perfectly. I was able to secure both hooks (I ordered 2, they only come in single units) and did some initial tests by banging it and pulling on them to see if they would pop off, they didn't.I was ready to hang the lights. I carried everything up to the roof then lifted my ladder up and walked along the ridge to the second level, put the ladder down and in about 7 seconds felt totally comfortable and confident. There was no wobble, no shaking. These things held onto the roof well with no damage to it and kept the ladder exactly where I wanted it. I was able to then climb down the ladder which was hooked onto the ridge and hang lights along the slope of the roof. I then got to the bottom where the gutter was and sat on the bottom run and felt secure while attaching lights along the gutter. I had to climb up to the ridge, move the ladder over a few feet and then climb back down and start all over as I was doing part of the roof, but the entire time I felt 100% safe. The cost to have someone hang lights on my rood was $175. These cost me $21 each for a total of $42. It took me less then an hour to do my lights and I saved $133 PLUS these things will last for years. This is one of the best tool purchases I have ever made, I love these hooks. If you need something like this get these, but note they only come in single units so you need to order 2. Some people say you can use just one, I wouldn't trust it. With 2 the ladder is held at 2 points which prevents it from swinging side to side. With one who knows what could happen. I submitted 2 pictures of my ladder on my roof as well.If you found my review helpful please marm it as so!

Worked as needed for me
I bought one of these to safely get to the top of my roof to do some maintenance and work up there. I carefully read the reviews on here to see what I was getting and in for and purchased one of these and couldn't be happier. The first thing I noticed when I received this was how heavy and strong it is. There is no maximum weight limit listed on the amazon site but it would take a tremendous amount of weight to bend these. Couple that with the fact that you're on a roof and not all of the load is being distributed vertically and I can't see anyone having any issues with support. When I got around to using this I attached it to my ladder and was a little skeptical at first since the only thing to secure it to the ladder as you're pushing it up, is a wing nut and piece of metal, however you should note, this just keeps the hook on the ladder as you're pushing it up into place. As the ladder slides down, the bottom hook takes on the load. I mentioned that this thing was heavy, and I was by myself trying to push one ladder with the hook on it up the roof while standing on another ladder which can be tricky depending on how much room you have to operate. Once up to the top I flipped the ladder over and secured it in place. Once on the ladder I had no reservations that the hook would hold my entire weight and felt confident up there on the roof, even with only one of these hooks holding the ladder in place on a 12/12 roof. My only suggestion would be on a hot day to make sure to wrap the hook with a rag or tape it up a little. It can dig into the shingles and damage them a little bit when you're getting your ladder in place. All in all though I wouldn't hesitate recommending this item to anyone I know.

Heavy-Duty, Quality Product
Like a few other reviewers, I needed to source longer bolts to fit onto my Heavy-duty D rung ladder. To enhance safety while setting the ladder into place, I tied a line to the second rung, threw it over the roof and had a helper on the other side keep tension on the ladder to enhance stability and assist with the lift. Very secure, excellent product.

Great Solution
This was easy to install and extremely useful. I probably could not have finished my project without it.

Strong and functional
I bought one pair of these to try it on my 24 foot ladder. It works very well and is easy to install on the ladder. I will probably replace the aluminum wing nut that holds the hook to the top rung. It may be strong enough as is, but I prefer a stronger nut. Every thing else is very sturdy.Only one con - The wheels will not touch the roof on my 45 degree roof till the ladder is about 2/3 of the way up when raising it from the first story roof. However, with a 45 degree roof it is unlikely other ladder hook will do any better. You just have to be careful not to tear a shingle loose. One word of caution: like any ladder hook, these add some weight to one end and the other end of the ladder is a long lever. This makes the castering wheels prone to let the ladder top travel sideways if you aren't careful. In my case, the 24 foot ladder could get out of control. This isn't a problem as long as you are cautious when raising the ladder don't let it start going sideways. I probably should not have to add this, but stay away from power lines when wrestling ladders and do not step on a rung which is extended past the roof edge or the hooks could swing up.It's a good accessory which adds versatility to my ladder and the ability to raise or lower a platform on roof jacks up or down one rung at a time. I plan to buy another pair of these hooks, one more 24 foot ladder and ladder jacks to make a work platform tomorrow.Recommended.

Not USA made
They work ok but two are much heavier than the single hook competitor that is USA made.I've bought qualcraft for years but their production appears to have shifted to the commies.

Great hook - works and great price
The media could not be loaded. watch the video for the full commentary and me using it. great hook, plenty strong enough. i got only one, you don't need two, the metal is thick. very very strong unless you're 300 pounds or something. i'm 150, if you bounce it will flex but i had great confidence in it. The more expensive one is reinforced, stronger for larger individuals and has a larger hook which would be nice since this one doesn't go super far over the other side of the ridge but it goes far enough for me to feel safe with it. Check out the video for more. for what i use it for, no need to spend $130 on the super duper one, this one works for the mr fixit around the house!

Does the job but some deficiencies
Note that this price is actually for a set, so you only need to buy one. Heavy and strong. The wheel is a bit small so manouvering on the roof is tricky, esp galvanized iron. The wheel also rotates, which you need to keep in mind as the ladder can slide back towards you when angled.

Good product
Handy to have, we did have to use longer bolts to attach to ladder but these do the trick

Sturdy safe product.
Used a couple to shingle a VERY steep roof using two ladders . Worked great. Always felt sturdy and safe. They made the job doable. I would recomend this product.
