Worked as intended, what can I say?
It was finally time to upgrade from my old, jet-engine-loud fat model to the newer Xbox 360 slim, and thus faced one of those situations profoundly frustrating to people as cheap as me - I didn't want to spend a lot of time and effort migrating hundreds of saves and dozens of games from my old Xbox to the new, but I also was loathe to spend 20 dollars on a cable I would need exactly once and then never again. So, Amazon to the rescue. The cable didn't even come in packaging, merely a green plastic bag, so I was a tiny bit skeptical. And yet, it included the CD, the cable, and brief instructions, which worked flawlessly and made the migration a painless process. Awesome. I still had to spend a few bucks on this item I'll never need again, but that's Microsoft's fault, not the cable itself. I'm just happy I was able to do it for less than half the price than if I'd bought the official Microsoft cable. That's enough for five stars from me.

Works To Transfer From Older 360 HD to New 360 Slim
Just like the title says it works. I transferred from an older model Xbox 360 60GB hard drive to a newer Xbox 360 slim model. The only thing about this is that the picture shows it in a box like you would buy at the store. It does not. It comes in a plastic green bag just like Microsoft would have sent it to like they did a few years back. The picture of the item in a box is misleading, but at the end of the day I doesnt matter, it worked flawlessly. For those of you who do not no much about the 360, it WILL NOT transfer from 360 Slim to 360 Slim. Only from an older model 360 to another older model, or older model to newer model. If you need to transfer from 360 slim to 360 slim you need the OTHER black cable kit, not this one.

360 data transfer cable
worked like it should, right out of the box, im not disappointed at all, and everything works on the new hdd. would definitely buy this again if i need to, product shipped on time, and i couldn't ask for more. if you need to transfer data from old hard drive, to a new hard drive, buy this, dont waste your time on anything else that might be 5 bucks cheaper, because its better to use Microsoft than any other brand, you're almost guaranteed its going to work, its going to do what its supposed to, and not screw up your data, like other cables have done to my friends 360, and many others as well. save time, save money, and above all, save your game.

Works like a charm
I purchased this product as I was upgrading from my old 20 GB pro to the new 250 GB slim. I decided on the cable to transfer over everything instead of using memory sticks as I wanted to get the licenses for my DLC transferred over as well. Setup was a snap as all you need to do is place the old hard drive on one end of the cable and plug the other end into a 360 with the new hard drive, then follow the prompts that come up. It took only about 7-8 minutes for all the data to be transferred over, and everything came over intact. I did not even need to recover any account profiles that were on the old hard drive. All in all, I was very satisfied with the results and now intend to see how long it will take to fill up my new hard drive.

Worked Just As It Should
Before buying one of these transfer kits I read reviews of the ones that sell for $4-8 here on Amazon. Some people said they worked fine, other warned that they were bad knockoffs. I didnt want to risk wasting money so I just bought this official one. Its a little more but it works great and didnt give me any trouble. Follow the directions and it will work recognize right away and transfer all your data. I noticed it seems to have a fairly fast read speed but what slows it down is moving different files. For example, it could move one 4GB file fairly quickly, but eight 500MB files would take it noticeably longer. This made it annoying to move over themes and gamer pics. Also note this is for old harddrives only. The ones from non-slim consoles.

Transferring xbox information
This transfer cable is exactly what I needed to save Xbox content to my computer. I was looking for a way to back up content stored on the external hard drive just in case it got corrupted or damaged. The thing is though in order to use this cable in that way you have to download software from Xbox.com that reads Xbox content. (My computer wouldn't recognize or read the xbox hard drive as is without the software.) This cable is meant to be used to transfer info from Xbox to Xbox and works fine for that as well. Great little cable, very handy.

Cable is not compatible
Like so many others on here, I followed the simple instructions given to perform a data transfer. Take out the old hard drive, plug it in to cable, connect it to the xbox with the new hard drive in place. An auto prompt should come up. It didn't. I go into system config to do a manual data transfer, the new hard drive is coming up as a usb device. So out of curiosity I swap hard drives, my old hard drive is also coming up as a USB device. Clearly this cable does not work as it needs to. To make matters worse, the site clearly lists the product as made by microsoft. This product was quite obviously not made by microsoft when I got it. It is a chinese knockoff. This product did not work for me and I highly recommend you do not purchase it from any of the other sellers other than Amazon as they are the only ones that can properly vouch for their product. If it is the same product as the one I received (bought it from master group on the amazon.com site) I recommend returning it immediately to get a refund or replacement for an actual xbox 360 data transfer cable. false advertising is illegal and Amazon really needs to ensure that it's 3 party sellers are selling genuine articles when they market things under the Microsoft name.

Did the job, but not without worry
I just upgraded from my old 20GB to a new 250GB HDD for my arcade style 360. It eventually did the job, but I got very nervous that it wasn't going to work. The first time I tried the transfer process I did not use the disk that comes with it, but the 360 automatically asks if you want to transfer the data. However, when I did this, the transfer process did not recognize any of the data in the old HDD and would not transfer anything. I turned off the 360, turned it back on, put the disc that comes with the cable in the 360, and then plugged the transfer cable back in and ran the process through the disc. This way it finally worked and everything transferred ok. The transfer cable does not fit tight on the old HDD that you are transferring from, so make sure it isn't sitting in a spot where someone might bumb into it in the middle of the transfer process. Also, move your profile and really important game saves to another memory source (internal hard drive, memory stick) so you don't lose them in case the transfer process doesn't go well.
