Coloring With Your Octopus: A Coloring Book For Domesticated Cephalopods

This book is an odd size but the illustrations are adorable. The paper is better than I expected; however, use caution when using wet mediums. I was able to use Neocolor II for the background but there was a lot of warping that I was able to get out most of by placing it under HEAVY books for a few days, but some warping remained. All that aside, I love the book!

The media could not be loaded.  If you like steampunk or octopuses or just want something really fun and unusual to color, this is a great book to consider. The images follow a young woman and her pet octopus. With her garb and some of the other accessories seen in the designs, it seems to be set in a steampunk alternate world. The 48 designs include both the title and end page illustrations and portray funny scenes that just might happen if you could, for instance, take your octopus for a walk.The format of the book is unusual for an adult coloring book. It is short in height but long in width. I'm assuming that it follows the format of the illustrated books by this artist as the designs are obvious made to fit this format perfect. Because of its size, the book sits a little awkwardly in my bookcase but the designs more than make up for it sticking out a bit at the front.The designs are printed on both sides of a good weight white paper. The pages are not perforated but the binding is sewn rather than glued, so removing the book from its binding is easily done by clipping those threads every few pages. The designs all stop well before the binding and have plenty of white space around the entire page for framing should you wish to do so.All of my markers bled through this paper, though my Staedler triplus fineliners worked the best. None of my gel pens bled and my coloring pencils went on very nicely. Because of the two sided printing, I will be coloring this book with a variety of gel pens and coloring pencils and will put the markers away unless I accept that I will ruin the design on the back of the page.

I love octopi and thought this could be a fun book, I was delighted when it arrived. Fun pictures to enjoy coloring, good paper, not hyper detailed ( plus for me )Only thing I can say is the pages are printed both sides, but that is not a issue for me. I rate this book at 11 of 10. I would recommend to anyone, especially if you like vintage art or are into octopi. I would gladly buy this book again.

Haven't gotten far but I love octopus so I love this coloring book. Steampunk.Fun details. Every picture represents a different activity. Works best with colored pencils in my opinion. I'll be getting all the books for sure.

I smiled the whole time I colored in this book. It's delightful. The two main characters, Victoria & Otto, are endearing. She is a steampunk Victorian miss and her escapades are with her pet octopus, Otto. Brian Kesinger is a top notch illustrator and I truly hope this is only the beginning of many coloring books in the future. The paper is white with some tooth and thickness. The illustrations are printed on both sides of the page, so protect the pages with a sheet of card stock. This book will give anyone hours of joy. It is a keeper!

I own both of the other 'Octopus' books and I was really looking forward to this one! However, I was hoping it would have some new artwork in it. All of the images are from the previous books (except obviously they're line drawings here, since it's a coloring book). Great buy if you're really going to color in it, but if you're like me and just wanted it for the eye candy, you'll probably prefer the fully-realized color versions in the other books.

What a fantastic coloring book--so much fun! As a fan of cephalopods, coloring, and steampunk, I could not ask for a better book ;-) I am an adult (and host wine/chocolate/coloring parties fairly regularly, so I have a fun, eclectic mix of coloring books for people to pick from), but I think this would also be a fun coloring book for kids.

This is a great, fun, adorable coloring book. I am glad I purchased it. The images are not too intricate but a joy to look and and color. The book is a soft cover, paper quality: thin, white colored pages. An unusual picture story line but cute and fun. (4.5 stars)

Bought this at the same time as "Walking your Octopus".Thought it might appeal to the granddaughter of a friend - and it would.Consists, basically, of the un-coloured versions of the original, without the text - so the Grand-dort can write her own story for each picture as well as colouring it.Seems to foreshadow some of the illustrations in the next work as well.

Das Papier ist oldfashioned creme- oder eierschalen-weiß, und passt zum viktorianischen Style der Protagonisten. Die Papierqualität ist mittelprächtig (Vorsicht beim Colorieren mit Aquarell - oder vorher kopieren).Ich find's toll!!! Aber für die komplette Sammlung muss man inzwischen ja eine ganze Stange Geld anlegen...Das vierte Buch in der Reihe, 'Dressing your Octopus', (Format: hochkannt, knapp 26 cm hoch,16,5 cm breit) ist ein Paperdoll-Book!Kostüme und Zubehör für Otto und Victoria zum Ausschneiden (do-it-yourself Scissormanship)... also ich weiß nicht... wenn man es ausschneidet, ist es ja kaputt. Guter Witz! Und sicher ein großer Spaß für eine ganze Paperdoll-Brigade.Ich bleib beim Kolorieren!

Wer Comics mag, Oktopusse liebt und sich auch als (äußerlich) Erwachsener noch lange nicht zu schade ist, das liebe alte Ausmalen aus Kindertagen wertzuschätzen, der wird dieses Buch im Langformat einfach lieben.Der Inhalt: liebevolle, augenzwinkernde Szenen aus dem ganz normalen Alltagsleben einer kecken jungen Steampunk-Lady mit einem landlebenden Riesenoktopoden als Haustier. Jeder, der solch ein Tier sein eigenen nennt, weiß ihre Intellignez und Treue zu schätzen: ob als fröhlicher Beifahrer, edler Retter vor zudringlichen Jünglingen oder als Gentleman beim Picknick - was dem Hundeliebhaber der Labrador, ist dem abenteuerlustigen Freigeist sein Oktopode.Frau und Mann haben beim ihren Ausmalen ohne Frage Spaß, denn wer sich überhaupt für solch ein Buch interessiert, der hat ohnehin genug Phantasie, um sich beim Kolorieren seinen Träumen an eine bessere Welt hinzugeben, in der treue Kopffüßer genau das sind, was man sich schon als Kind immer gewünscht hat...
