I read this works on m203, but is it the same for m203dw printers? will this toner work? thanks!

Yes, the 30A toner will work on any of the M203 models. In fact, just to let you know, if the only difference between two models are the letters after the number (so, an M203n and an M203dw) they'll always take the same toner cartridges.

Bought printer in august. printed 384 text pages according to the supplies report, but it says cartridge is very low. why? claimed capacity is 1600.

For the purpose of cartridge yield measure, almost all printer manufacturers base their black ink/toner cartridge yields on 5% coverage. This means only 5% of the whole page is covered with ink or toner. 5% coverage implies basic type with no bold characters, no graphics and no pictures.

Does the printer come with one toner? If so, what is the toner capacity of the one that comes with the printer?

The printer comes with a starter toner that is usually half capacity of a regular toner

I have used HP toner cartridges for over 30 years. They are superior to the cheaper knock-off cartridges. When they are low, you can shake them side to side and obtain an additional 50-75 copies.

Beware of the cheaper generics

I purchased a less expensive generic equivalent, and after a few pages my HP printer said “cannot recognize the print cartridge”. No matter how many times I tried to reload it and try pushing different buttons, restarting, etc. my printer wouldn’t recognize the generic.So I had to bite the bullet and buy this one, the brand name, which cost considerably more, but it works. The generic one ended in the garbage. Lesson learned.
