Sprenger - fairRIDER spurs

I cannot rate these spurs highly enough. I've seen some reviewers on the net describe them as "too ugly to use", but when my daughter's wearing hers, which are all black, over her black riding boots, they're very subtle and not ugly at all. However, I really think the aesthetics should be secondary to the function, and for us, these gentle spurs were exactly what I wanted. My daughter's pony spent 12 years in a riding school before we bought him, and is pretty dead to the leg. She asked for spurs like she's seen some other kids using, but I didn't like the idea of an 11 year old poking holes in her pony, and I didn't know if he'd ever been ridden in spurs, so didn't know how he'd react. The result has been perfect: it's just enough for him to feel her nudging him without having to kick too much. I think these are ideal for a young rider or for a young or inexperienced horse, to get them used to spurs before (or instead of) moving on to something stronger.
