The procedures returned my ear loss to perfect hearing. Two years ago I was diagnosed with ...
First, I had a stapendectomy surgery on both ears in 1987. The procedures returned my ear loss to perfect hearing. Two years ago I was diagnosed with a mid level hearing loss. In the last six months I have noticed a severe hearing loss in my left ear. I have continually had to ask people to repeat what they had said and have had to turn the volume on my cell phone to the highest volume level so that I can hear it ring and the other persons voice when I answer it. I am now insured through Medicare and while I am hopeful that the surgery can be performed a second time if not I will need a hearing device. They can be pretty pricey even with the partial payment covered by Medicare. I have set an appointment to see an Audiologist, but can not get in to have a hearing test until the middle of January. I actually got on the Amazon site to research hearing aid pricing, but when I came across the MEDca BTE Behind the Ear Amplifier for the cost I thought what the heck, order it and give it a try. I ordered it Monday and received it with my Prime Membership Wednesday, today. It is a very simple item to work with. I put the battery in, turned it on and placed in my ear. WOW! My old hearing came right back. I highly recommend that anyone with a hearing loss and is looking for a very inexpensive quick fix or perhaps long term use, buy it! I am sure glad I did!

DOA
First off, I received the product really quickly thanks to Amazon! The product came in a small package as it is small obviously. It comes w/ two extra ear buds, small and large, the medium bud was already attached. I took out the battery, followed the instructions to a "t" and I could not for the life of me push the small lever that held the battery in to the unit. It would not fit no matter how many times and variations I tried. Finally, I gave up and handed it to my brother who happened to be around and he tried. Same thing until he had to use a small tool to bend the contact that the batter uses to operate so that the lever would close and 'sorta' snap in place, albeit, not snuggly. No noise, no nothing. I tried everything. Note: The battery was in the correct position as shown in instructions. It cannot fit the other way. So, this unit was DOA. Nothing I did worked. Note: This is item is NOT eligible for free return or at all. DOA, stay away,

I'm Impressed!
I only have a mild hearing problem, and wanted something to help 'increase the volume'. At under $11, this seemed like a good way to 'start' to see if I could comfortably wear a hearing aid, and see if it would help. This is great!! Pros: It increases volume of all noise around you. That includes wind noises if you are in the car, and traffic, as well as voices. It doesn't distinguish between sounds at all. So imagine turning up your car radio or TV a couple of notches, that's how it works for me. It's all I need because as I age I find that I have to strain to make out words in a crowd, and often ask people to repeat what they said, which can be embarrassing. I can hear talking, but without a bit more volume, conversation often sounds garbled. This is perfect! It's pretty comfortable. I wouldn't wear this all day, but I could. I get annoyed wearing sunglasses for a few hours, as my ears are sensitive, and this is far more comfortable than wearing sunglasses which was a pleasant surprise. You can also hear with it turned off. There are 3 ear adapters to fit different ear sizes. I have a very small ear canal, so was delighted at how the smallest one fit. The price was amazing! Under $11 for a working hearing aid! I was thinking about going to Costco to get one, and the prices for the fanciest go up to $1000. I only needed a bit more volume, so this is perfect for me. It also gives me the opportunity to 'try out' how a hearing aid works, since I've never had one. Great deal! Cons: The directions for battery insertion stink. There's a diagram, but it's not very clear, and will take a few minutes to figure out. Not a big deal, but I can see why people might think it was dead on arrival if they insert the battery in wrong as I did at first. Battery life- I don't know how long it lasts, but like anything small with a battery, I would imagine not long if you keep it on at all times. Its easy to turn on and off, so once I figured out what volume I wanted to set it to (2 1/2 out of 6 for me, and my son helped me read the number behind my ear), I could just turn it on and off as I need. My husband tried it, and now he wants me to buy him one too. He doesn't really need a hearing aid, he thinks it would be great to have to hear conversations in other rooms! Lol.

It didn't work for me.
Not powerful enough for someone with severe hearing loss. I have small ears and the diameter of the earpiece is too large to allow it to fit in my ear opening and allow the earpiece/cushion to fit in my ear canal.

Hard if hearing
Use to watch tv. Very good sound quality. Only thing is the batteries only have about an 8 hr life.

Awkward, uncomfortable, not the best low cost hearing suplement
Got one here at Amazon, I hate it. Very uncomfortable to wear, The 'connected' between the main hull and the earpiece is very thick and VERY visible. You will look like a geek wearing these. I have bought several hearing supplements in the past ( and also spent about $3,000.00 for a 'hearing aid' partially paid for by insurance). The previous H supplements looked normal, were comfortable and I just bought another from Amazon. But I would never buy a Medca product again. Chicom junk. The Medca unit is oversize. The earpieces are comically large. Even the battery is way to big. If you just want more volume and don't need to get a prescription H aid choose a different one from Amazon, they have a few of them for under $30. But stay away from this turkey.

Not worth the money
You have to buy two packs if you want to hearing aid like devices and they're very bulky and as somebody else said the battery lasts about maybe 8 hours if you're actually have hearing loss like significant hearing loss don't try these get something better I mean they're good for a temporary fix for example I'm stuck without my hearing aids for two freaking weeks this is not going to be a good two weeks waiting for these things to come back but these are probably not going to be my solution seeing as as stated before they only last about 8 hours kind of even less than that it seems like I guess I see why they give you three batteries per device the only good thing is it helps you hear a little bit better not as good as the hearing aids though I need something like this though that will make it easier for me to hear in certain situations like social services social security office and the airports and trains because places like that like to cut off Bluetooth and then therefore you don't get to hear for the rest of that time that you're there so unfortunately these ain't the ones it was a waste of $24
