Snack Attack
I was a little nervous thinking these were going to taste like cardboard or something but I love these chips! I like to think that tortilla chips are just the vehicle for salsa to make the journey into my mouth but these tortilla chips I like just as much without salsa, as with it. They are light, crunchy, have a great flavor, & are good for you. I received a bag of the Garlic Hummus for sampling purposes but the fact that I loved them would remain the same if I purchased them myself. I'll definitely need to seek out the spicy bean flavor to give a try also. Nothing like having great snacks on hand when the snack attack strikes!

Tastes fine, but healthiness is laughable; it contains more oil, rice flour, and dextrose than beans!
Let's get taste and texture out of the way first. It's fine. Basically like tortilla chips dusted with a bit of garlic salt. But tortilla chips are a dime a dozen, right?! These Garlic Hummus ones must be special, since they proudly advertise:1) 14g Whole Grain2) 2g of fiber3) Made with Pinto, Navy, & Black BeansLet's look at these one at a time:1) 14g of whole grain is okay, but not all that impressive. You'll find the same in many cereals, for instance.2) 2g of fiber is pretty pathetic, and is akin to many regular corn chips. For comparison, Beanitos (*real* bean chips) have *6* grams of fiber.3) Made with pinto, navy, and black beans... er, they're lower on the ingredient list than oil, rice flour, and dextrose. So we're likely looking at about a thimble of beans for the entire bag. I should have suspected something when -- in light colored type at the very of the bottom bag -- I see "THREE BEAN FLAVORED TORTILLA CHIP" (yes, it's in all caps). "Flavored" is your big hint here. It's like "Chocolate-flavored" or "fruit-flavored" and we all know what that means (and tastes like). So basically, if you'd like a bit of garlicy flavor added to your tortilla chips, this item may well fit the bill. Just don't deceive yourself into thinking it's any healthier than a regular (and probably less expensive) bag of corn chips.

Great Tasting Tortilla Chips by Eatsmart
I received these Garlic Hummus chips to sample from Eatsmart and...Wow! These chips are delicious! I was pleasantly surprised. They taste great with or without a side. I enjoyed them with some salsa and guacamole. Muy delicioso! I received this sample to try as part of the Influenster program, for free. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Addictive
I quite like these chips. They are a far healthier alternative to regular tortilla chips. The ingredients are: corn, canola oil, rice flour, sesame seeds, brown flax seeds, chia seeds, cane sugar, maltodextrin, quinoa flakes and sea salt. With the exception of maltodextrin (a food additive), I knew what all these words meant without needing to google them—already a plus for these chips. It isn’t every day when chips are real food. The chips have what seems to be a fairly pronounced garlic taste. They are thin but have a definitive texture to them. And, they are completely addictive. My husband and I had been planning to try them with salsa, without salsa, as a snack, after dinner, etc. We never quite got there for before we realized it, the bag of chips was empty. So these taste great without anything. And this even though they have relatively little salt and quite a lot of fiber.Especially compared to other chips, these are quite good for you. And they taste far better.Yes, they are a bit more expensive than other chips but, having tried them, I shall be buying them again anyway. They are delicious and they’re real food.

Salty at first, but garlic flavor stays
The first impression I had on these chips was that the garlic was really strong and they were very salty. After a few more, the salty taste didn't seem as strong but the garlic was consistent. But that's OK -- I do like the garlic. There are only 60mg of salt per 1oz serving, so it's not like these are overly salted. Others who tried the chips similarly enjoyed them but definitely commented more on the garlic than the hummus (and even more so than any other flavor on the chip).Eatsmart is taking advantage of the recent trend in "bean chips", though the first ingredient is whole yellow corn -- it's confusing because you see a big "three bean" label on the front, but then it says tortilla chips, hence corn as the first ingredient. The ingredients are pretty natural with a number of different oils and bean types included. However, the beans don't appear until the fifth ingredient, so most of the content is just corn and sunflower oil. You're getting fancy tortilla chips with some garlic hummus flavor and a "sprinkle" of beans, but the manufacturer does claim them to be non-GMO.These chips aren't worth a buck per ounce, but as long as the price falls in line with similar snacks going forward I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
