WOW! Caught hundreds within minutes!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Holy cow!! We have been battling beetles every summer for years, and for the past three years or so, we have bought the Spectracide beetle-in-a-bag setups. This was my first time trying this brand, or any other brand for that matter. And let me tell you - the other brands do not even hold a candle to this one! Within minutes, we had HUNDREDS of beetles from setting up just ONE of the two bags. I’m not even joking! Side note/pro tip - do not do what I did! Make sure that you open and set it up a little bit away from your deck or door! I had never ever had results like that before so, silly me, I stood right outside my door on my deck and started to setup one of the bags, intending to get it situated and then carry it out back into the yard to hang on one of our existing shepherds hooks that we use for them. Well, within seconds of opening the lure up - no joke - I was being swarmed with beetles! It was insane. I actually ran away with the bag at first, not realizing what was happening as that had NEVER happened before. Once I realized it was the lure/bag, I put it down and ran inside to get my significant other for moral support, haha. We were blown away by how effective and quickly they started to work! He hung it up, we killed probably a hundred beetles by hand, and within 20 minutes we had hundreds more in the trap and they just keep coming! The attached photo was taken 20 minutes after opening and setting up the bag. And the video was taken almost exactly 24 hours after opening the set up to hang one bag (EDIT: for some reason, it won’t upload my video and keeps failing)! I will never, ever buy a different brand again! If you are battling beetles (Japanese, garden beetles, the copper colored ones, the brown speckled ones - ANY beetles) - I’m telling you - give these a try! I am SO impressed! Would give 10 stars if I could.

Japanese beetles are crazy about these things.
Every time I hang one of these bags (during active Jap. beetle season) I am absolutely swarmed by them. They love the spice scent it puts off. If the sun is shining on it, it's almost not even fair. You can literally stand there, pluck them off the scent holder & drop them into the bag.Last year I hung it closer than I probably should have to some of our plants because I wanted to make sure they stayed away from other plants. This year I moved them 50-100 ft from any landscaping or vegetable plants and I also used three at a time. This year they worked even better. The bugs can get out if you let the bags get anywhere close to half full. As long as it stays below that level, they either can't get out or just don't want to. The other key is to empty out the dead ones. I'm pretty sure they try to get away from that smell.I take a bucket of soapy water with me, open the bag into the suds, and dip it in the water until most of the pile is gone. Then I try to clean as much of the remnants out by hand as I can. They show using a hose but 2 of my bags are too far from a spigot for that to be feasible. We have a lot of wind around our place so the last thing I do to try and mitigate bug loss is- I hang the bags on a shepherd's hook and then tie them with a string to a landscape staple. This keeps them from putting undo stress on the plastic hangers.Great design, great value, works every time. Highly recommend these to anyone looking to get rid of as many Japanese beetles as possible.

Price is right
This was an excellent Amazon purchase. Do not hesitate to purchase , especially if you catch these on sale. They are super easy to use, and effective Japanese beetle traps. I have used other brands but the price point was right for me to give these a try. I am impressed with the size of the bag and the fact I can empty the stanky dead beetles out. All said and done they work exactly like I wanted and I am a happier gardener.

Works
Works well! I can literally see them flying all around and right into it. I have two out and they are filling right up with them. One is between my peach and cherry trees. The other is in the landscaping of my house. Cons is that they give u a bread tie to hold it up. The first day the one in the trees kept falling down. Its windy out there. Within the first two days the one blew so much it flipped upside down on the Shepards hook and all the beetles got out :( I ended up getting a second tie and securing the bottom to the pole so it cant flip. You may be able to see in the photo what i did. It still is able to catch lots more beetles with my adjustment. The second one (ive had them a few weeks now) is up by the house the tie broke and the trap fell today. Most of the beetles in it had died but I imagine any live ones got out. So ive secured it back up and also did the bottom like the one out between the fruit trees. They are catching lots! I still am picking them off my plants. We are probably going to order more of these. :) They are catching them, so other then my adjustments for secure hanging they are good. Just be mindful to secure them. It was heartbreaking to see lots in the bag and coming back in a hour to them dumped out!

They really work!
My neighbors and I have grape vines on the fence between us. We noticed tons (TONS!!!) of beetles had taken up residence on the grapes. Totally unacceptable. They needed to go. So... I ordered these beetle catchers. I'd had them a couple of years ago to protect peppers and tomatoes from the dastardly bugs. They work even better than I remembered. Within 4 hours of putting them up (one at each end of the grapes), the bags were at least a quarter full. Unbelievable!I have two more to put up on sheperd's hooks.but the ground is too hard right now. And we're doing okay with the pair since they're still catching bugs.Watch the video on assembly and how to clean and you'll be ready to go when they arrive. We're all allergic to the chemical sprays and pesticides so these were the perfect solution. Buy these and avoid the sprays even if you don't have allergies or asthma. You'll stay healthy and the bugs will be gone. G.O.N.E.
