Good USB to RS232 port
It worked fine, but "it" selected the virtual COMM PORT. It wouldn't allow me to choose what port I wanted it to be.

Sabrent USB to Serial Model: CB-DB9P.
It is easy to get your DB9 pins wrong like I did when at first I thought the Sabrent USB to Serial Model: CB-DB9P did not work. However, it works as advertised. Secondly, check the Windows "Device Manager" under "Ports" to be sure the device driver is present. The Sabrent is NOT plug-n-play. You must download and install the driver which will show up as as a "COM" number in the Windows "Device Manager" under "Ports" which you must correctly select and use with your Terminal Emulator such as PuTTY. Only 4 Stars because plug-n-play would be better.

Works now
I bought one of these 3.5 years ago to work with PLCs, that one that I purchased still works. I bought one more recently and it wouldn't work. I bought another one 2 weeks ago and it also would not work. Both I tried with the same computer and compared it to the still working cable, but neither of the new cables would work.Update: The cables are working fine but the software I was working with was a bit troublesome. I overcame the issue and both cables seem to be working well now.

Does not work on Apple Silicon MacOS devices
I plugged this device into my MacBook Pro expecting to see devices appear under /dev/cu* and /dev/tty* but nothing appeared. It *does* appear in System Information under the USB subsection, but no devices appear under /dev. Fine, I'll download and install a driver, because this is the year 2025 and apparently drivers are still required for goofy devices like this one. There is no download matching the device I have, so I take a guess at which driver to download. There are three versions of the driver packed inside the .zip so I try the newest one, from 2021. I get a message that the kernel extension needs to be updated and could not be installed. Why in the heck is a usb to serial adapter so difficult in 2025? I would recommend against purchasing anything from Sabrent for a Mac. They clearly don't care about Macs.

Can't remove the mounting screws
The screws around the port are NOT removable. You can't just screw them out. This is important when you are plugging up to a device which also had the same protruding screws and the two butt up against one another preventing the connector from actually working. I'm having to deal with his right now.Not a plug and play solution in every case and short of cutting those mounts off you're going to have to adapt your other parts to work with this.
