Minelab Gold Monster 1000 Gold Detector for Adults with Waterproof Coil

My first three times out with the GM 1000 I found no oro. The last two times out I have found 5 pieces of oro; including two very small pieces like a pen tip size. So I like that the GM 1000 is sensitive to small gold as that's what I have in southern NM. I would prefer more depth but as I plan to follow the dry washers, hit bed rock and mine dumps, depth is not an issue. The key things I have found, is knowing the detector through practice and putting it over some oro to find in the first place. Now that I am past that, I can find oro. There are some helpful videos on You Tube by some pros; Chris Ralph and Nugett Shooter Journals that can gave me lots of helpful info, specifically on the GM 1000. Like machine limitations and how to use it. I recommend these videos. I am happy with my monster and can find oro with it.

I've got 20 hrs of use with this and have every confidence in it. It may be expensive, but I believe in paying once and crying once. Comes with alot of goodies for it. Being a VLF machine, it "sees" hot rocks but it will also "see" incredibly small gold.Update: I have not found any gold yet, but that's due to it not being where I am hunting for it. It will find the smallest lead fragments that are fairly deep. It is light weight so I can use it all day. I have gotten used to the difference it makes between "hot rocks/ground" and metallic/lead targets. The battery lasts all day of intermittent use and comes with a AA battery holder for a backup. It also has the fast ground balance feature which helps with highly mineralized soil. Expensive? Yes. Worth the money? Without a doubt. Feel free to send me any questions.

Nice detector and no complaints other than the lack of a good instruction manual. I had to search YouTube for videos to help operating. The instruction manual provided basically only tells you how to turn it on.

Horrific experience with this product. Was already opened,missing battery amd other unknown parts missing. Very frustrating

This machine is amazing at finding the tiniest sub-gram pieces of gold. Very user friendly controls. A perfect detector for both beginners and advanced prospectors.

You need to get familiar to understand how it works, once you know how to read the signal is pretty much spot on. When it dectecs metals instead of gold I don't bother anymore to dig, not to mention the battery last very long time.Very happy

I own two of these now for my small scale mining adventures. Super easy to use and being as all I'm looking for is gold, the Gold Monster 1000 is perfect. Great videos online with very experienced detectors who are quite impressed with the capabilities.

I was fortunate to try one of these units along with a gold bug 2. I prefered this one for ease of use and general quality of materials. I was disappointed in Amazon's packaging of an $800 item with virtually no packing material with the exception of a piece of paper. That packer gets the lazy azz award fo the day. Fortunately the product arrived ok.
