Works well at a bit lower cost than others.
This i my second one. The first one went with my old Maverick when I traded it in.The hardest part is installing the piece that has a curve, and attaches to the side of the tailgate. You have to hold the part and the bolt in a certain position to get it to tighten up with an Allen wrench, but the bolt is hard to turn because of the sealant they apply to the threads, so that part of the install takes some extra patience (and maybe three hands). The rest is easy and straightforward.

Happy with it.
Backing nut a little tricky to install but works great after 2 months!

Worked great - watch some videos for install notes first
Works great, seems solid and should last a long time. There is a bit of the tailgate's downward release arc that is unassisted but not much (first 15 degrees or so), and then the piston takes over and the tailgate goes down nice and smooth.Be sure to have a T30 and T50 torx socket available. Also make sure to remove the tie-down on the tailgate's driver side (also T30 bolts) as this would interfere with the piston. There are replacement options on Amazon to restore the tie-down point without the interference issue. Also make sure to get the nut screwed on past the bolt's thread locker in the bottom bracket - I held the nut with a wrench and turned the bolt. Aim to get the nut as close to the bracket as possible but still with enough wriggle room to slip the nut through the blind opening and over the sheet metal. Once you turn the first 90deg with the bracket in place, that nut will "catch" on the sheet metal (if you've got the step in the nut facing the bracket of course) and then the blind install is easy-peasy. Watch the videos online and you'll see what I mean - otherwise you risk the frustration of losing the nut inside the cavity.

Lower tailgate plate
Good product but has to be a better way to attach the lower plate on the tailgate. Word of advice, get that hinged nut ( whatever they call it) as close as possible to the thickness of the tailgate opening where it goes before tightening otherwise you will never get it.

Immediate damping
Seems to be good quality. The damping starts right away rather than halfway down.

Works fantastic & easy to install
There’s just no reason to go for one of the slightly cheaper “knock-off” brands. This is still reasonably priced and works extremely well. The installation maybe took 15 minutes tops. Functions great with no noise and a nice fit
