Versatile Carving Knife!
Very sharp knife. I use with special cut-resistant gloves and I think you will be happier to do the same, since they're comfortable and will protect when you slip.

Great price and came with a bandaid!!
Love it! I am a newbie at carving and the first knife I purchased had a 2" blade. FYI, this is way to long for a beginner. This length was perfect and came very sharp right out of the box.

Dissapointed (read the update)
I have a couple reasons for my poor review, first off, when I recieved the knife the blade had a lot of patchy discoloration, I decided that this wouldn’t be a problem if the knife works well, and it did at first, when I started using this knife it worked pretty well but I did feel like it was too big for detail work ,but what I noticed is it got dull right away, when I tried to sharpen it, then it would be sharp and then get dull and start to get nicks in the blade super fast. This knife is not comfortable to use because I have to push very hard to actually make cuts, and like I said before, it is too big and dull for detail work, I was very exited for this knife and thought it would allow me to carve for long amounts of time. I should also add that the wood I was using was basswood which is fairly soft and should be easy to whittle and should not cause a knife to get dull. Due to these problems I have only used the knife shortly a few times. I am overall disappointed with the product. I have added a photo that shows the discoloration and odd lines on my knife when I recieved it.UPDATE: After this review I contacted the BeaverCraft team and they replied right away and were great about sending me a replacement. After I recieved the replacement i tried it right away, and it was a much better knife than the first one, so obviously I had recieved a defected knife. The new knife is great and is sharp and easy to carve with. Customer support is also great. I am happy with the new knife and would recommend this product.

arrived dull
I ordered this because I really wanted to get into woodcarving. however when i got it, the blade was exceptionally dull. no matter how much i stropped it and used a whetstone on it, it would not sharpen. i tried reaching out but they would not replace it. i suppose this is what you get for ordering off amazon for a tool you should be ordering from a specialty website.

Average knife that needs work
This knife is very affordable but will require some work and sharpening skills to make it a good knife. My knife had a rough sharpening which was probably sharpened on a belt sander. You can see deep uniformed grooves down to the apex on both sides. This in turn leaves micro cuts on the carved wood. In addition, a dull knife requires more force to cut through wood. If your sharpening skills are adequate, you can spend some time starting with a medium grit stone and work your way up to finer stones to acquire a mirror-like polish that slices wood. The blade is very thick which also contributes to more friction for your cuts. Lastly, the bulk of the handle makes the grip uncomfortable. If your sharpening skills have some basic tools, you can reshape the handle to your liking. In my opinion, I would spend the extra money and get a better quality knife.
