All the tools in this set are super sharp except for the 6 point punch and the simple awl. They both took an edge/point fine when I sharpened them and all the tools hold an edge well. I thought this was more of a sewing kit but if you have a basic sewing awl these tools are a perfect complement to that. There are tools to cut grooves of various widths, shave the edge (skive?) and round the edge , mark and punch holes. The cutting chisel may be the sharpest tool I have ever had, and I do woodcarving. I would have expected tools this nice to add up to more than $100 but they were much less. They are a great value.

This starter kit worked well for me as a beginner in leatherwork. I ordered these to work on bracelets/cuffs. The tools have smooth wooden handles and made of stainless steel. There are 18 tools and most of them felt sturdy and handled well while working. Stiching Spacer (2mm) and Leather Stitch Cover Wheel (4mm) wobbled/ shifted side to side a bit while using. Each of the Leather Edge Bevelers, Wide Mouth Edge Beveler, Big V (115mm) and Short V (95mm) Groovers and Leather Skiving Knife will take some time getting used to; learning the angles and pressure needed to get the desired results. Diamond Lacing Stitching Chisels (1,2,4 and 6 prongs, 4mm), Wood Handle Awl, Adjustable Stiching Groover and Adjustable Edge Creaser all gave clean holes and clear markings. The 6 in 1 Hole Punch Set (had greasy/oily bits) was a bit tricky; the leather rotated with the mechanism when pressure was applied. Once I kept my leather in place (using a clip/clamp) and applied consistent pressure, the hole was achieved. The Leather Edge Wood Slicker Burnisher and Leather Edge Grinding Polish Tools, I have not yet used. With more time and practice, each use will get better! I am pleased overall with this kit and would purchase again. *The leather I used was Buttero Veg Tanned, 5oz (black).

Great starter set...for the price you can easily decide if it's a hobby/craft you would like to invest in more in the future

The main reason I bought it was to stitch leather and the first time I used the stitching ore it snapped

In no certain order, and in no way complete, the edge burnisher has a 2 inch split in the wood and a smaller split next to it; Since it's very purpose is making a smooth edge, it seems prudent to start with a smooth edge...lol, or something like that!
