I am very happy with this book. In fact, I bought a second copy! The research is in depth and the photos of the botanical sketchbooks are clear and beautiful. The book allows the reader access into many historic sketchbooks that we might never see. It provides a glimpse into a time before photography and computers. I enjoy reading about the artists as well as studying their work. Very well written. An excellent addition to your library that you won't regret purchasing.

I ordered this by mistake and absolutely loved it. A beautiful book from a fine tradition of the past. Pages and words from some great explorers and botanists. Well worth the expense for the quiet joy this book has given me.

Just what I wanted. Love the narrative as well as variety in the images. I borrowed it from the library and knew I needed to add it to my studio library.

Also, beautiful Book I had discovered through a Library. Very interesting to follow the various artists on their trips.

The very first time I open the book the green end sheets of the book crack.The second time after reading it for a few hours the spine joint split open from the front hardcover. TheThe book itself had the information that I am looking for but the quality of the material object is absolutely mediocre, cheap. Not what you would expect from Princeton Architectural Press. What a stupid idea of blinding the hard cover of the book with paper instead of cloth!
