I was doubtful that something so inexpensive would actually work and a little confused about how, but oh my I am SO glad I bought these and will buy more for travel because these are staying in my home! They fit BOTH my bedroom door and my front door! And- they WORK. No one can key or open the door when these are on! My landlord has keyed in on me with no notice; NEVER again! These do EXACTLY what I need and are quick and easy to both set and remove. They are very small and light and come with with a travel pouch, very discreet and will fit in a small purse. Note that they only work on inward closing doors, as most are. Also note that my purpose is NOT to disable my landlord from coming in- which these devices absolutely DO that- I have repeatedly asked my landlord to give proper notice and to give me time to open the door and let them in, because they keyed in on me without notice when I was in bed. I let them in, but they can no longer disregard me and key in on me unaware. This is what you get for doing that, we are 2 females protecting ourselves, as we should. No more keying in on us without even giving us time to open the door to you. I have a cat and this makes us all feel safer. I plan to use these in hotels as well- no more risk of people entering our room while we are there and have asked Do Not Disturb. We can sleep securely without worry at any hour. This product offers SO much peace of mind. And as women- safety! They are durable. I recommend replacing your front door’s short screw with a long reinforced one as well, no one can tell and your door will be much more difficult if not impossible to kick in, and use THIS PRODUCT. As a woman- you can never be too safe, and peace of mind is everything!

UPDATE: If you're using this for a situation where someone is actively brute-forcing their way in, DON'T BUY THIS and just block it off while calling the cops. Depending on the fit between your door and frame, a bigger gap makes it loose and therefore ineffective. -- I bought this for me and my man - FOR CONTEXT: His dad lives with us and he's constantly barging in while we're in our office doing work. No privacy or respect whatsoever! We don't want to install a new door handle/knob with a locking mechanism, so I ordered this portable locking thing. I'm happy it's a pack of 2 because I'd love to keep one at home and bring the other one if I'm in a hotel (paranoid). Let me tell you, this WORKS way too good - at least for our doors***. I attached a picture of how I have it set up. The way it is actually stops the door from moving in general and you can only see the handle moving if someone were to turn it on the other side. It's pretty quiet, but getting the thing in the door is comically noisy because of the chain.
