Cooling Vest Replacement Packs for PolarGel Cooling Vest

I really wanted this to work. It sounded perfect, outside of having to always "recharge" it. I found it only stayed cool for about 45 minutes - not long enough - and if you don't have a second "ice pack" cold or a sink with ice in it to get it cold - you're SOL. That makes it a bad idea if you plan on watching a game in it - then you have to carry the vest around. For this reason I ordered a second "ice pack" (almost double the price) which only extended its effectiveness for a short time & then you have to deal with the warm "ice pack" thing. If you would use it for a short walk - or need it for a short period of time - it may work well for you. I purchased one of the evaporative vests at the same time to compare. i'm keeping the evaporative vest, but returning the other. It lasts longer, and "recharges" when you rewet it.

Bought them for the construction crew. Some ice vest are stiff and do not allow you to bend over as freely. The guys are able to work and move around in them freely. From what the crew members told me, they are able to move and work freely when wearing them. The ice packs keep them cool for about 2 to 3 hours in 105 degree weather.

Followed directions for cooling gel packs in the freezer. I was just sitting not active, wearing vest under my tshirt. Outside temperature was about 85. The packs only stayed cool for an hour. They were advertised to stay cool for 3 hours. Additionally, two of us could not get the straps to hold in the buckles. They would do better with Velcro. But since the cool packs didn't work for more than an hour I will return product.

Worthless. Too heavy. Can't store in freezer or fridge. And it doesn't stay cold for longer than an hour or so.
