Good, but very bitter
First of all, you have to brew this right. I tried it in a Keurig and it just clogged. I've found 2 ways to do it. Either use a traditional coffee maker and set it to "strong" or simply mix it with water in a cup, microwave it to a boil, let it sit a minute or two, then filter pouring into a filter placed in a coffee maker. If you don't brew it hard, it just doesn't extract much. You'll immediately notice the smell which is wonderful and very coffee like. If you try to drink it straight, it will likely be too bitter. In fact, I think it tastes like cigarette smoke if you drink it this way (maybe ok if you are a smoker and like that). You need lots of cream and sugar to overcome this bitter taste, but once you do, it's quite good. Not quite like coffee, but good. If you want it to be more like the actual taste of coffee, get some Pero of Cafix coffee substitute and brew maybe 1 cup of Cafe Capomo and mix it with 2 cups of either of the other two. They taste much more like coffee, but lack the bitterness of coffee (they always taste like weak coffee) which is why I don't like them by themselves. The smaller amount of Cafe Capomo brings out just enough bitterness that you could literally fool people into thinking they were drinking coffee (even if it doesn't quite taste like the coffee they usually drink, it is quite a believable taste. Anyway, I hope this review is helpful. I'm always trying to find that perfect coffee substitute because I just love coffee so much. If only coffee didn't destroy my stomach...

Great taste. Not acidic!
I'm updating my review below because I recently tried this product again after testing it with a Ph strip. There are reviewers saying it is acidic, but I realized the Ph is going to be effected by the Ph of the water used to brew it, so I tested both my water and my brewed Capomo separately. My water tested at 5.5. My brewed Capomo tested at 5.5. No change. Now I'm not a scientist, but common sense would tell me that therefore this product is not acidic. After trying & testing several brewable coffee subs this one came out the winner. The taste & smell is very similar to coffee with a roasted slightly bitter flavor. It has great body (for a coffee sub), and is a pleasure to drink. I haven't tried it black, I use heavy cream & sometimes I add ghee or coconut oil if I want something extra special. It is delicious.I can't account for what was bothering my stomach mentioned in my original review below, but I've been drinking Capomo daily for about a week & have not had any symptoms this time around. I am someone who is very sensitive to acidic substances & have to steer clear of them completely, or else. However, I do drink my 5.5 Ph water without any problems, and that is slightly acidic. So I suppose I'm ok with that much acidity. Point being this product doesn't add acidity to your drink.Original review: It's the closest in taste & body to coffee I've found, & I was excited because it truly is a delicious substitute & tastes much more like coffee than Teeccino, but after drinking 1 mug a day for a week it seems my stomach is not happy. I thought it was acid free but now I don't know where I saw that info. It may not be acidic but I'm reacting to it the same way as coffee for some reason. I'm so disappointed bc I can't drink coffee or tea, nor decaf coffee or tea, so it's been ridiculously challenging to find something robust & satisfying to drink in the morning. But I'm still giving it 5 stars bc it's a good product & Im not SURE it's what's triggering my stomach problem. Really delicious with heavy cream, ugh!

amazing flavor
I love the taste of the product I like to support/purchase anything that is fair trade and unsustainably farmed. Will definitely be purchasing again, to see if I had health benefits as well. it was hard to tell from just one bag and it only lasted me a week. The cost is a bit steep for me personally I have limited income presently. If product was a little more affordable I would purchase more. I love the taste of the product I like to support anything that is fair trade and unsustainably farmed. Will definitely be purchasing again

Caution
I regret to have to write a negative review, and am only writing this because such a review would have been helpful for me before making this purchase. This was awful. The bitterness is a scary kind, not a normal kind. I even followed other reviewers’ advice of only putting half the recommended amount into the boiling water, plus I buried it in milk and sugar. But the bitterness cannot be hidden. It tastes like something that shouldn’t be ingested - like crushed pills mixed with cigarette ashes. The bitterness stays in the throat for hours, even extra brushing and gargling didn’t help. The smell from boiling this product was so bad that we had to open all our windows.

LOVE this coffee substitute!
This product far exceeded expectations! I have lived for more than 40 years being very "fussy" about the coffee I drink. My preference is dark roast, oily, full-flavored organic coffee. Due to cortisol issues, my doctor recommended I reduce my intake of caffeine, but I don't care for decaf coffee because of the acidity and lack of depth. I'm so happy I tried Capomo as my first choice for a substitute. It really smells, tastes, and looks like a good dark roast coffee. I was able to cut my coffee consumption down to 1 cup in the morning (most days) and 2 Capomos throughout the day. My favorite way to prepare: Boil just under 2 cups of water on the stove, reduce heat to medium, add 4 teaspoons of Capomo, stir, simmer for 12 minutes (stirring occasionally). Then, strain using a pour-over method. It fits beautifully in a standard Bodum glass coffee cup. Finding Capomo is big win for my health and hedonistic love for coffee!
