Fantastic multiplayer game with an excellent story.
I have played this game for a long time now, and it is awe inspiring. Many earlier Final Fantasy elements have been worked into the story, so it invokes great memories of past Final Fantasy experiences. My favourite is the witch Matoya who lives in a cave surrounded by brooms that sweep themselves.

Je n'ai pas pu utiliser le code d'accès car les codes USA ne sont pas compatibles avec les codesutilisés en France. First MMO that has captured my interest in years.
I've played many MMOs in my life. Final Fantasy XI, World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online, etc. But there was a slump for quite a few years where I was just completely burnt out from them all together. Even thought there's a ton of games that are free to play and download, I just couldn't bring myself to care.Enter FFXIV: A Realm Reborn. Now, as a beta tester of the ORIGINAL release back in 2010, I didn't know what to expect. I know after having played FF XI for so many years and adoring it, I was extremely disappointed in the original release of XIV. So I went in with an open mind while beta testing FF XIV 2.0/A Realm Reborn. I was immediately hooked. The story, the world, the mechanics, etc. I will say as a BLM, I did miss having a ton of spells like in FF XI, but I understood the direction they were taking the game in and it still worked and is very fun to play. My biggest problem most of the time was what to do next. There's so many things to do.It's not completely free of downsides, but they're few and far between in my opinion. If anything, my biggest/main complaint would be that hitting the level cap could've taken a lot longer. If you're concentrated on the story and leveling, you'll hit the cap in no time. But thinking about it, it's still a longer and more interesting story than a lot of single-player games these days. The story is quite exceptional, especially when comparing it to other MMOs and more recent entries in the Final Fantasy series (sorry, I don't like XIII or it's sequels, and I'm already dreading XIV). So it still ends up being a type of pro for the game in the end anyways.I also like how well they've been updating the game recently. It may not get updated every single week or month, but when the big patches come, there's a lot of content they add. I much more prefer it this way as well. If the patches were any bigger, they'd feel like a full-on expansion in my opinion. And plus taking time always means there's less bugs once it finally comes out. I'm more of a slow and steady type of guy anyways, so I actually appreciate when game companies do the same to worry about quality over quantity. And you still get the quantity in the end anyways. There's a whole more lot detail I can get into, but there's tons of videos you can check out. And if you're just wondering if it's worth the $30, then yes. If you have any curiosity to try it out for yourself, you get a free month with it so it's like you're only paying $15 for the game and $15 for the first month. And if you don't like it, that's fine, not everyone will. But a lot of people might get just as hooked as I did as well. It's at least, AT LEAST worth experiencing the story for.

Started out great but got bored.
Pre-ordered this game and started playing it on early launch in August. I was stoked to play my first Final Fantasy MMO and when I first logged in I was blown away by the scenery and attention to detail. Please understand that this game is in no way terrible. I was debating on whether to give it a 3 or a 4 but it only held my interest for about 3-4 months so I gave it a 3. The game is very versatile as it allows you to play multiple different classes that can be changed on the fly whenever you like. Questing system is typical and consists of kill, gather, or escort. The game has alot of quests to keep you busy for the most part but I wasn't to interested in the story. I have been a fan of Final Fantasy for over 15 years and have always enjoyed their story lines. This one I couldn't seem to keep my head in and that could be part of why I lost interest. On with the review.PROSPrice - $30 for PC. Can't beat it. Monthly sub is $12 for one character. You will only need one character in this game because one character can be ALL classes. So unless you have siblings at home who play as well then you will only need one character.Class System - The way this game is setup allows you to become every class with only one character. I see this as a good and bad thing. It is good because you can pay $12 for the sub which is nice cause it is $3 cheaper than your traditional MMO sub at $15 a month. It is a bad thing because you use the SAME character the entire time. Some of the fun of MMOS is re-rolling a character. I don't know about you but I find pleasure in starting an alt character and leveling them up. This game kind of takes the fun away from that.Graphics - Colors and cut scenes and game play is all smooth. As good of graphics as any other MMO I have played. You have nothing to worry about here.Final Fantasy Lore - Face it if you are buying this game chances are you played Final Fantasy before. This game does well in making sure all the lore is still here. Moogles, chocobos and all of the Final Fantasy lore has been thrown in the game. Even the authentic battle music is here.Levels - Currently level cap is 50. IT can take a while to get there if you play casually which is good. Staying busy can be the hard part as finding a group can be painful sometimes.Controls - Typical MMO controls nothing fancy here. You can use a controller as well.Overall this is a pretty solid release by Square. I think where they fell off at is the end game and questing system. More quests need to be added I found myself standing around between levels wondering what to do. Repeating dungeons is an option but finding a group as DPS is a challenge in itself.CONSFinding a group as DPS - This is becoming more of an issue with all MMOS. Beware if you roll a DPS character you will have trouble finding a group at times. The good part about that in this game is that you can change to a healer on the fly which will increase your chances of getting a group. One character - One character can learn all classes which can detract from the excitement of having to Re-roll again.Story Line - I think this is the major reason I quit playing. I felt as if the story was dragging on and on from one cut scene to the next. When I first started playing I was genuinely interested in what was going on. At around level 35-40 I noticed the story started taking an uninteresting turn and I found myself clicking through the cut scenes so I can hurry up and keep leveling. Story is sub par for a Final fantasy game I did not feel emotionally attached to anyone really. There are a few decent NPCs that are in the story line but other than that I was not on the edge of my seat wondering what happens next.Spam - There was quite a bit of gold farming before I quit. It has been awhile so I am assuming this has died down some.No PVP - Before I quit there was no pvp in this game at all. I am not sure if they added any after i quit, but a MMO without PVP is doomed to fail at some point. This is coming from a gamer who doesn't even PVP that much at all.Economy - This game has a dismal economy. There is an auction house but I rarely had to use it. I leveled all the way to 40 without having to really buy or sell anything in the auction house. All of your weapons and armor are gained from questing so you don't really have to trade or purchase anything from another player. I personally enjoy the element of having to bargain or find goods from other players. Having all of your weapons obtainable by questing kind of kills the adventure for gear. Conclusion, if you are an avid Final Fantasy fan and MUST have their MMO then get this game. It isn't bad at all and has great potential. It just wasn't what I was expecting in a Final Fantasy MMO. I might come back to it in a year or so to see how it is doing or maybe if it goes free to play. I think the story line is what killed it for me. I know it is an MMO and story line isn't the main focus but I feel that Final Fantasy should have a great story at all times. If you are looking for an MMO with multiple classes to choose from and decent dungeons and large towns with a nice population then this is for you. If you are expecting an epic story to go with all that then maybe you should pass.

Fun at First, but Fell off as i progressed through the game.
I started out really enjoying the game, despite the pain it took to finally be able to create a character on the same server as the person i wanted to play with. After the initial drawback, i really started to enjoy this game. I honestly thought this was going to be the next great mmo that would keep me interested for awhile. However, i was wrong. The story was amazing and was really enjoying it, up until i was forced to do an instance as part of the main story line. This would have been fine, but due to the fact that i wanted to play the dragoon class, i was forced to sit in a queue for an hour hoping it would pop. However, it did not. Don't get me wrong, i know it is hard to find a group as a dps, but if you are forced into an instance as part of the main story line at least find a way so people are not screwed with long queues. Maybe have an NPC healer option or something. Just don't punish people from being able to follow the story line because they choose to play a class they wanted to play. And don't even try to voice your opinion in chat in game, because people will just act immature and tell you to switch classes. I made a simple remark about wishing they would have kept the storyline separated from the instances, so that i could experience the story just like everyone else. I was called a troll for this, and i really don't see how that is trolling. So basically wanting to play the game, and progress in it, makes me a troll? How does that make any sense. To top all that off, i am forced to have my tells spammed with farmers and not able to ignore them without having to open my blacklist and type out their name in it, every single time a new one spams me. If they can't control their servers and have no option to even report these farmers, what faith does that give me that they actually care about anything other than the money you are paying them. I feel they want to have a mmo that is self sustained without them having to put in an effort of their own to fix things people are complaining about. I see large amounts of people who actually agree with me about the insanely long dungeon queues yet they still do nothing about it.I know mmo's are meant to be played with others. I completely understand that, but there is actually a large crowd of players who actually enjoy soloing mmo's as well. So why do you want to ignore that part of the community. They are paying their hard earned money as well, to help support your game. Shouldn't the company cater to all the consumers. To me it seems they really do not want people to play their game solo. So as a solo player who is willing to group when needed, i can not recommend this game to others.I also had issues with the combat as well. As someone else stated, it seems really clunky. I like to have a fluid motion in my attacks. However, since every skill seems to trigger a cooldown for the other skills, it is very hard to enjoy it. I feel like my attacks are so delayed. I would like to be able to combo different abilities together easier, without having to wait 2.5 seconds for my next attack all the time. It might not seem like much, but this is basically just time in combat when you can't really do anything except for spam your next attack button.I really wish this game could have been great, because i love the final fantasy franchise. And despite the flaws i mentioned the only real huge thing that kept me from wanting to continue was not being able to play through the storyline. I really was enjoying it, but than just being stuck and not able to continue on, forced me to quit. It was really the biggest deal breaker for me. The other stuff is just minor that i could have overlooked due to the greatness of a lot of the other stuff in the game. The scenery was amazing. I love the atmosphere of the game. It really did capture the final fantasy feel. The classes were fun and variant enough to keep you interested. The quest were not too tedious. The hunting log was a great way to level as well. You are giving simple task of killing a certain mob 3 times and gain a good amount of xp for it. You also rank up through the log and at the end of each rank, you are given a huge boost in xp. So despite the flaws there was a lot of good in the game as well.So in closing, if you are really into completing the storylines in mmo's and play the game solo. You will have a very hard time with this game. And i would like to reiterate that i am not against grouping or anything. I play everything solo except i do normally do instances in mmo's. I usually always play through instances in random groups. However, when you can't actually find a group to do a quest that is part of your main story, it kind of takes the fun out of the game.
