I can descibe this product in two words as "pure junk" because it will not more than two weeks with daily use.This product's features descriptions include the following which, due to the inarticulate nature of the statement, implies that the device is mostly metal: "The electroplating process of the portable ice crusher enhances corrosion resistance, rust resistance. By weight and by surface area, the surfaces subject to corrosion, rust, or both (that is,) metal, represents less than 5% of the products material content. That would be the handle and the blades, and the blades are not electroplated.How about the instructions included with the product. The following were included on the plastic bags that protected the mostly plastic or poly-carb product: "I am recyclable" and "Warning: This bag is not a toy. To avoid suffocation, keep out of reach of children."Though mostly simple to assemble, there were no instructions printed on paper included with the product. This would not have been remarkable except for a black PLASTIC or POLY-CARB disk in the handle parts bag. After some study, I surmised that is was one of two things: 1) a replacement knob for the crank handle incase the original broke or 2) an assembly or packing error at the factory. Neither situation instills confidence in the product quality. Oh, and if it was a replacement knob, the screw hole in the was not drilled through to facilitate installation.At a $60.00 plus price tag, the kindest thing I can say about this product is that it is a joke.I've already requested a return merchandise authorization from Amazon.com.

Those electric things they peddle all over Amazon ARE NOT Ice Crushers! THEY ARE ICE SHAVERS FOR MAKING SNOW. Great for kid's Snow Cones. But, for ACTUAL REAL RESTAURANT GRADE CRUSHED ICE for soda pop and iced tea; NOT SO MUCH! THIS HAND-CRANKED DEVICE will provide you with REAL ACTUAL CRUSHED ICE you are looking for! But, you'd better have some muscle and endurance!

Poorly made and cheap, not worth the money!

I almost choked to death because a plastic piece broke off and ended up in my drink. You can see the missing piece on the right hand side in the picture.
