a compassionate, multi-layered guide to emotional restoration
Alexandra Elle’s How We Heal offers a compassionate, multi-layered guide to emotional restoration, weaving her own wisdom with contributions from other writers, therapists, and healers. The book’s brilliance lies in its collaborative spirit—readers are introduced to diverse voices and perspectives through meditations, storytelling, and personal reflections. Each contributor enriches the healing conversation, showing that recovery is not a solitary process but one deeply rooted in shared humanity and connection.Elle’s approach is highly practical yet deeply nurturing. She integrates journaling prompts, breath work exercises, and mindfulness practices in a way that feels accessible and flexible, encouraging readers to engage at their own pace. Rather than framing healing as a rigid step-by-step process, she offers tools that can be revisited in cycles, allowing for ebb and flow in one’s emotional journey. This balance of structure and softness makes the work approachable, especially for those who may feel overwhelmed by their own pain.Throughout, Elle gently dismantles the idea of healing as a “project” with a fixed endpoint. She reminds readers that healing is ongoing, often messy, and rarely linear—but also profoundly worth the effort. By normalizing setbacks and emotional complexity, she fosters a mindset of self-compassion and patience. The book leaves readers with a renewed sense of agency, anchored in the belief that while wounds may not vanish, tending to them can cultivate resilience, self-trust, and a deeper capacity for joy.

A must read with more than what you think you need!
The beauty of this book is in the diversity of knowledge and practices. I had planned on finishing this book a month or so into purchasing it, but after a few pages I quickly realized that this book isn’t meant to be read for reading sakes. This book is soooooo relatable and is full of gentle reminders. I truly appreciate the additional guidance that this book offers like meditation, journaling prompts, breath work and voices from other people on healing. If you’re looking to get into your reading era, or need some sort of guidance on healing, I highly recommend.P.S you will have those “I feel the exact same way.” “Wow. I’m not the only one” “I needed that” “That makes a lot of sense.” “Let me get my pen.” “…..sniffles” moments.

This book was so necessary for my healing journey!
I am a huge fan of Alex Elle’s work! By the time I was on page 15, I had already shed a few tears. This book reminds you that you’re human, your feelings are natural, healing is a never-ending/nonlinear, and you have to be honest with yourself about your thoughts & feelings. Now, I’m half-way thru the book and feel SO seen by the stories, journal prompts, and meditations inside. Doing this work is not easy and it’s not always fun either, having to face fears and/or things you’d rather not think about, but this book has given me the opportunity to dive deep into who I am and who I want to be. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to or ready to do that inner work!

A must read if you are on your healing journey
I found out about Alex since I'd been in college while navigating my purpose in this world. It was individuals like Alex that made me realize that I had some hard and deep self work that I needed to work through before making my purpose truly come alive. Similar to Alex, I have had a wounded relationship with my mother and this is what brought me so close to Alex and her writings. I have more of an understanding of myself, my relationship with my mother and other women in my life because of Alex's work but more importantly this book. If you are looking to move forward and REALLY transform then this book is a great step! Thank you Alex!

A Big Part of my Healing Journey
This book, along with therapy, EDMR, embodiment, resonant self-work, and a few other things, has allowed me to heal so much that I feel like a different person. I have learned so much about myself and looked at things I didn't really want to look at, but knew I needed to continue on my journey of life and healing. I have bookmarked several of the meditations that I use every single day. I still have my ups and downs, but I feel I have control over my mind, choices, and I have a map for how to navigate the tough moments in life. I cannot praise this book enough! Do yourself a favor and order it now!
